Oh, apart from Teresa May’s video good wishes to the Gay Pride Paraders in London today (yesterday). It was later slammed by Rainbow who criticized her alliance with The DUP. (who, let’s face it, wouldn’t be the more progressive of parties.).

lol… Make Bono history… or at least stop him from playing pretend world leader… the greedy fupping self-important meddling clown.

Clearly based on those quotes, he’s got a completely retarded appreciation of decent economic policy.
& Maybe get Brian Eno back in again to try and fix your boring, outdated and irrelevent output….
Actually no, please don’t… just retire and leave well alone.

“In the world of the blind, the one-eyed man is king.”. Is there an equivalent for idiots? By the way – I’m not calling any of the commenters, myself included an idiot – except I’ve been referred as one.

    1. Shayna

I know Einstein, said that the definition of an idiot, “…is someone who expects a different outcome every time he does exactly the same thing.”.

Never argue with a fool, it won’t take long before nobody can tell the difference as they bring you down to their level and beat you with experience…

Along with peoples countried of The North Continents – they don’t see the Polar Ice-caps melting -yes they do! I completely fail to see how the U.S Government over successive years, including Obama failed to acknowledge.

Also, anyone know where I can park my car for a couple of nights. 16pm – mid-afternoon ,11th until 13th. 12ish noon around The Hub @ St James’s Gate. Without it being stolen, etc?

    1. Andyourpointiswhatexactly?

Maybe down around Grey Street? So long as there’s absolutely nothing in view in the car, you’re probably safe.

        1. Shayna

Gray St? It’s my friend’s car and he’d be a tad precious on it. Thanks Andyourpointisexactly.

Have you thought of using public transport and NOT bringing a car which belongs to someone else?

    2. GiggidyGoo

Why? There are taxi services, so you could leave it in a secure paid car park.

So Joan Burton fears that the “social media assault” had an impact on the Jobstown trial, and she may be correct. But what really impacted the trial were the lies told by her and the police and the obvious political nature of the charges made against the defendents. The jury and indeed the judge herself saw through this and subsequently aquitted all the defendents.

    1. Topsy

Yep, and it’s called perjury. However that’s ok if you’re a politician or a member of a currupt police force.

If you’ve been following the story at all -and I suspect that you have and are simple being disingenuous- you’ll know that audio and video evidence from the jobstown protest have proven her to be a liar.

I recommend you google ‘joan burton jobstown’ and see what that brings up.

          2. Biggins

I have been following and I don’t see how she has been proven to be a liar.

is it that people say she wasn’t actually afraid?

          3. Biggins

maybe haven’t been following as close as you guys. am interested to know though as it’s so serious.

          4. mildred st. meadowlark

Biggins. Have a read of some articles about the jobstown protest, and the subsequent trial and make up your own mind on the matter.

Even if you didn’t wish to follow the story, you could hardly have escaped the basic details, what with all of the media focus on it.

          5. Biggins

I did. I wasn’t happy with these trials either, showed major issues with the cops.

I don’t recall any instance of it being clear Joan Burton was lying though. And it seems no one can tell me.

I ask twice and I just get smart answers.

I pop in here from time to time and the tone seems to be that of a place that is interested and strives to uncover the truth. So I would have hoped a simple question would be respected. And that allegations are grounded in fact rather than justified by a political dislike which is more daily mail than new York times.

          6. mildred st. meadowlark

Ok so. I assumed you were trolling. Apologies. Here is what I believe to be the issue with joan burton’s ‘honesty’.

At the jobstown protest, joan and her secretary(??) were reportedly “terrified” and wanted to “run for their lives” -which may or may not be true- but her words are thrown into serious doubt when audio and video clips emerged of joan + secretary? in the car, surrounded by protesters, not act that terrified and attempting to figure out the best way of turning this to political advantage.

That’s the basics of it, to the best of my knowledge. Anyone else want to add anything?

          7. Biggins

OK, well saying she wasn’t scared because she didn’t behave in the appropriate way is dangerous ground.

What’s appropriate for someone who is scared?
What’s appropriate for someone who was raped? or an innocent accused of murder?

Even the solidarity TDs said they weren’t supportive of the name calling, egg throwing, abuse etc that she received that day, It’s reasonable to conclude that it was a scary situation, and we have no reason to doubt her, even if we don’t like her.

Worrying how “she lied in court” can just be accepted as fact when we don’t like someone. We should be more careful or we might be on the wrong end of such inaccuracies some day.

I hope we all learned something here today. Look after yourselves, and each other.

          8. mildred st. meadowlark

            Great points, well made Biggins.

You certainly gave me some food for thought. As a labour voter (former), to say I feel betrayed, like so many, is an understatement.

And so, perhaps I did allow my disgust with one of labour’s more prominent members cloud my judgment.

But, there is a cynical part of me that says, in this case, she lied.

Still, thanks for making me question my biases – it’s always good to be able to check yourself.

      1. :-Joe

        As far as I know…

Burton was only there for a typical photo opp’ which was widely believed to be extremely arrogant and misjudged on behalf of the labour party in light of their recent political shift to the so-called right-wing establishment side of the dail. People are genuinely disgusted with them and the treatment by the guards.

Surprise surprise, a bunch of protesters who are members of the voting public express their anger when given the rare opportunity to get close to a politician from a party who they believe have betrayed their trust.

Burton knew this but either her and/or the party decided to teach the working class a lesson in manners, much like a so-called right wing party would.i.e. Torys, Republicans or the FF/FG coalition of failure. Now everyone with two braincelss to rub together and no skin in the game is rightly angered that she and the party would have the nerve.

It gains huge momentum and support, goes to court and the evidence makes it clear that it was possible for the car to be reversed out backwards from the site, out and away safely enough by an alternate route.

All the other details facts, hearsay etc. etc. are mostly irrelevant beyond this point. Why?.. It shows that Joan Burton was not in serious danger but instead, either decided to be stubborn and stand her ground for vanity and to save face by not having to appear to be fleeing from the scene and giving in to the protests or the guards were negligent in not getting the car out when they could.

At the end of the day, burton was willing to act on behalf of the labour party to score political points and treat the working class like the nuisance that FG/FF coalition of failure are happy to believe they are. It would not have been even a fraction of a story if it were not the so-called “labour” party pulling the strings. Just look at the history of blair-ites in the british labour party. It’s a similar history on a much smaller scale, the same shift to the right and fooling the coters but without a million civilian casualties in Iraq. etc. etc.

Labour will have to get rid of everyone involved there at the moment to be taken seriously again, much like what Corbyn is dealing with in britain. Unfortunately this will prevent a credible alternative coalition not invloving the so-called right from forming and FF will get the next election as usual…. same auld bs.. five steps forward and four steps back.

Vote local independants if you want real change… party politics is completely corrupted.
