Comparative studies taken from a 2014 book chronicling an ongoing 20 year project by Dutch conceptual artist and photographer Hans Eijkelboom showing how, at least in terms of street apparel, we are more victims of a homogenised transnational monoculture than we like to think.

Possibly if you look at sufficiently large number of people you can easily group them if your categories are broad enough:
      – men in denim shirts and jeans
      – men in red coats
      – women with furry hoods
      – topless men on skates
      – women in ‘pink’ sleeve-less tops
      – men with beards
      – women in dresses
And if you ignore anyone wearing more unique clothes you can make sweeping statements.

Sets presented are molded by the confirmation bias inherent in a selection criteria based on clothing choices; the behaviour patterns revealed are local, not “transnational”. Inanyways if I wanted to gawp at randomers’ clothes I’d go outside.

I especially like the fact that they included the men on skates.

They are wearing one item of (identifiable) clothing, and each of the 14 pairs of shorts (1 longs) are different.

    Homogenised transnational monoculture me botty.

This is the result of mass-production though, not unimaginative humans. Take a look at any shopping centre carpark for instance….we can only buy the cars we are sold.

    Munster Bandwagon

    1. Nobody is wearing a tie.
    2. Nobody is wearing a silver or gold Fáinne.
    3. Nobody is sporting a brown scapular.
