Cormac McAdam writes:

To celebrate National Breastfeeding Week, ALL babies delivered in the Rotunda Hospital, [ Parnell Square, Dublin 1] from the 1st to the 7th of October, will receive a gift pack knitted with love and donated to the Rotunda Foundation by the Rotunda Knitters group.

The Rotunda Hospital is the largest hospital in the country and the only hospital in Dublin to have achieved the Baby Friendly Health designation.

Breastmilk is the optimum choice for all of our babies with 73% of our mothers initiating breastfeeding.

The Rotunda Knitters are a community of knitters who knit for Premature & Angel Babies born at the Rotunda. Our thanks go to them for their tremendous and continued support.

In fairness,

Over 30yrs ago the Rotundra allowed me to circumvent visiting hours because I worked nightshifts.
15yrs later the Coombe were reluctant to do the same for me.

Admittedly Stu, it could just be Political Correctness gone mad, or it could be the opposite of that too.

I’m having the rest of my kids in the Rotunda.

Hang on… do they let Southsiders in?

If not I would advise all Mothers in Finglas and Ballymun to lock up their daughters.
This post is after making me go all broody all of a sudden.

      It ISN’T ‘sad’.

People do whatever works for THEM.
They most likely didn’t think about you and you most definitely aren’t thinking of them.

Knitting is nothing to be scorned.
      It can be very theraputic.

      I’m 100% serious.

They provided mini meadowlark’s first hat. It’s a wonderfully thoughtful and sweet gesture when you’re going through utter chaos after what should be an exciting and precious first few days with your child.

The rotunda’s NICU team do amazing work.

Umm, do I want to know what an Angel Baby is?

If it is what I think it is, why are they knitting clothes for them?

Let’s say you didn’t make it full term yourself…
      … sound of applause…

Would you not like a cardigan or a jumper, or maybe a scarf… to go around your neck.
You come across as very cold.

      Yeah but…
Forgive me for having nipples without a purpose but this breast-feeding lunacy worked for a long time before a man stepped in and made you pay for an inferior product willingly…
You must know something I don’t know. Or would rather never have you know.

I’m more of a leg man meself.

Memes you ever breastfed a baby?

I could probably tell you a few things about formula v breastmilk if you were interested. But I’m not really convinced that you are.

        For instace… I’ve just taken delivery of a smoked-cod meal…
I didn’t ask for a carton of milk for me drink. Y’know what I’m saying?

Yer Ma understands that straight off.
YOU are the weirdo, not her.

Thanks Harry, and Mildred, Mildred, Mildred…

I was breastfed. My only older sibling had two teeth when he was born.
        I wasn’t lucky. I was blessed.
My Mother was smart. She had seven smart kids.
        – Your Ma probably didn’t even have one.

        1. mildred st. meadowlark

I wasn’t breastfed. I was hatched from an egg and nurtured on a diet of scorn and cynicism.

(Incidentally, did you know that some premature babies are born without the instinct to ‘suckle’?)

          1. badatmemes

            Of course I knew that…
            ALL men know that.

Stop trying to make this conversation about Bazongas.
            It’s about bamboozlement.

          2. badatmemes

            Booze.
            Bam.
            Lament.

            In that order.

            I’m sorry.
            I am a man.
            I am sorry..

I’m just sayin’, show me a 2yr old and I can tell if they were breastfed or not within 10 minutes.
            Anyone can, actually…

          3. badatmemes

            Hang on…
How many babies have you got?
            I have three.

One of them is 35yrs old and the other two are teenagers.
I’d like the fight to be even.
Can I include my grandchildren? I have three of them too.
