Gee-ography, especially cartographical gymnastics, makes Ireland disappear. Irish cartographers should get revenge by drawing a map with Ireland at the centre of the known universe in which extreme fringe places like California and Siberia disappear. Birr in Offaly is the dead center of the world as we know it.
I was very surprised when I learned recently that New York is further south than Rome, and that Toronto is further south than Nice(!)
Here’s another one for you: there are parts of Canada further south than parts of California.
