No big deal. Almost amateur level. Any other European city would have twice as many in each photo.

We’ve a lot of catching up to do.

1)It is a big deal for any homeless person!
2)Are you saying that other European cities have better reporting re the homeless? It’s certainly true re European countries who use more than 3/7 ETHOS light Categories of homeless,Ireland just uses 3/7,WHY?
Yes,we do have a lot of catching up in that case!

No, Nuala – I was being sarcastic.Of course, I think this is a shameful disgrace.

I was remarking on Varadkar’s comment that homelessness in Dublin is not so bad “by international standards”

There are people sleeping in fupping tents on the street… what more do they want to see?

you’ll have to give them a few minutes as they have to get an update from leos million euro poo spinners office.

Homelessness is a problem that needs to be sorted.
The current housing problems (lack of housing resulting in huge prices and ever increasing rents) needs to be fixed.

      I hate the poor too.

Not those that work for low pay, just the other poor. They know who they are.

    Don’t worry.
Photos of people sleeping outside shops bracing the cold nights will be over the national press over the coming week

That’s just a sad reality for many around the world. Complicated thing to fix….I wish them well and hope they can access services. It’s difficult for many reasons… addiction and poor mental health don’t help. I was in London and copenhagen and was struck at just how universal homelessness. You always see it more in cities.

Hi. CPO’s of vacant/ derelict plots/houses/property – let the “owners” crawl out from ever and challenge the CPO in the courts if they wish.
Local Authority employees build hoses, estates, renovate homes etc and they are put on the market (minus 50 to 60% for social housing) at a reasonable price – 4 to 5times the average salary. Time to flush the exploiters and profiteers out of the market.

          1. Cian

            Interesting idea.
CPO must pay the market value of the property, so this is just a way to recycle land back into use/houseing .

Can the 4 dublin council’s do this today? If they charged the full property tax, rather than the 15% reduction they have all approved, then they could raise 20-30 millions each year to start this.

Surely not complicated to fix. Finland has done it; Scotland is getting there.

How did they do it? Hint: Dublin is choc-a-block with empty houses. And the Corpo doesn’t build homes any more.

but, but, what about the poor vulture funds and the property developers and the banks, won’t somebody think of the banks…… Government intervention into the property market might hurt the bottom line of these poor misunderstood entities and Ireland mightn’t be seen as a great country to do business in anymore, because that’s what REALLY matters… to a blushirt
