Oh, Josepha.
Previously: The Traveller Card
UPDATE:
In March of this year.
Travellers were officially recognised as a minority ethnic group in Ireland.
Artist Paul D’Arcy has designed a Traveller ethnicity pin featuring a wagon wheel and the harp.
Pavee Point writes:
“This week-end we celebrate the first International Human Rights Day with Irish Travellers officially recognised as a minority ethnic group by the Irish State. We will be posting photos and messages on Facebook and Twitter of people wearing the Traveller ethnicity pin.”
From top: President Michael D Higgins and Sabina Higgins; Education Minister Richard Bruton; Irish Solidarity–People Before Profit TD Ruth Coppinger; Chargé d’affaires at the US Embassy in Dublin Reece Smyth; Ireland soccer player Cyrus Christie with Thomas Collins; Bridgie Nevin, Goretti Horgan and Eamonn McCann; Anne Marie McDonagh; Kathleen Sherlock; and Breda Quilligan.

I’ve concluded that Fine Gael are actually just a party of wind-up merchants
Hah! You’ve cracked it.
No truer word, Panti.
She’s the worlds biggest traveller nimby
Jesus, Mary and Josepha is there nothing these media boo boos will not stoop to?
Or “The Journal.ie” commentator version:
(anti Traveller jokes)
I had a feeling that this would be a red rag for posters over at thejournal , I dont have the heart to look …
A salivating mob doesn’t quite do them justice is all I’ll say.
In fairness it’s just a minority
Good to see such public support for Irish Travellers.
They’re a sound bunch of people with just a small minority of bad apples giving them a bad name.
And they have to put up with fearsome abuse.
yes josepha, as long as they don’t build a halting site at the top of Fosters avenue and deepark road, mount merrion!
Have you lived near a halting site?
near one, yes.
Was out for a run one day and their dog gave chase. I had a personal best for the 1km it took to get away from him. was a funny sight!
I have a lot of time for josepha, she is a good egg and has a long political career ahead of her. she is also Ian Madigans aunt.
The harp on the pin is the Guinness one rather than the Irish state one
The Irish State one is protected by copyright. The other one is just, like, a harp – I guess Guinness will have to deal with that.

I wonder if i got one of those pins would it be easier to attract women?
I like her Freemason’s sash.
How do you pronounce Josepha (correctly: I don’t care how you guys pronounce it in general)?
Jo see fa?
Joseph-ah
JoSEPH-ah?
From the Horse’s Mouth:
“Josepha, whose wide-ranging portfolio includes responsibility for bogs, is a stickler for proper pronunciation, as Independent TD for Roscommon and turfcutters’ champion Michael Fitzmaurice found out when he introduced himself.
“Howya Josie,” he said.
She soon put him right. Her name is Josepha, and most important of all, it is pronounced “Jo-see-fa”.”

Thank you!
Brutal name.
Da disappointed he only had one son and a brace of girls.
9 months after Irish travellers were officially recognised as a minority group, today they now have a badge to honour that honour.
I refuse to see this as tokenism.
I love the way Ireland is changing, slowly but surely.
It’s down to the attitude of young hardworking people who will not accept the hangups of old Ireland.
We are building a fantastic multicultural Ireland and for way to long travellers have been left outside of this process.
So now it’s official I would like to call on The Arts and Culture Minster to have a massive festival to celebrate our island and its diversity of many clans with proud traditions and cultures.
Today 8th December 2017 is a great day for the travelling community.
Let’s ALL move forward together on the anniversary of John Lennon’s murder.
All we have to do is IMAGINE
#OneLove
#IrelandMovingForward
BS Excellent headline btw.
Thrilled to see Elton John backing this.
Travellers stole my grandfather clock and I’ll never forgive them. My hate is unbounded and unashamed and will brook no argument.
Termagant
There are 30987 travellers in Ireland. Did they all nick your grandfathers clock?
There’s no doubt in my mind that half of them would and that the other half would make excuses for them
Haulte Couture.
Not.
