Apart from the Luas lines, cyclists are endangered even more by the deplorable state of the lanes in which we’re expected to cycle.
This metal trap (above) in Donnybrook [Dublin 4] took out both my tyres and almost put me under a car..

watch where you are going
get proper tyres

Like, road tires?
Yes.The design of these metals covers is brutal. The implementation is worse. The high edges (not flush with the road) creates a really dangerous hazard for cyclists. Catch the edge with a wheel and it will kick out. Catch both wheels and good luck.
Dangerland locations: Hatch Street Upper is covered in these. It’s an obstacle course.
and of course you have reported this? thought not
I’ve been reporting various local potholes, patches, seams like crags from the Burren, etc for some years now, most lately at http://www.dublincity.ie/main-menu-services-roads-and-traffic-road-maintenance-and-street-repair/repair-road-or-footpath Mostly nothing is done.
Need a mountain bike for the city centre these days, although slower it’s nice not having to weave around every obstacle in your path.
Wouldn’t the council be liable if someone had an accident? Seems massively negligent.
Handy if there’s proof that it has been brought to their attention. That is obviously hazardous but not very visible to make it easily avoidable.
more often than not, even if you an see it, it’s not safe to go around it, especially if moving traffic to side of you. surface of dame street is especially bad.
There used to be an absolutely lethal drain cover right where the road narrows at Kiely’s there. The combo of slippery drain cover and a road too narrow to fit all the lanes it claimed to have used to make my life flash before my eyes constantly.

Did it take them out anywhere nice?
oh dear
I can’t believe they put something like that on the pavement.
Sounds like a clickbait headline.
