The collective orgasm is currently registering on the Richter scale. There have been several stabbings this week that took lives but now that one of dem furners has done it, they care.

The place is a [sweary filter] poop hole

I can’t stand it. Don’t know how you do it Daisy.

It’s an aggressive slurry hole of narrow-minded angryv little people, by and large nowadays.

Don’t go near politics.ie, Daisy – the glee of some of the posters about this attack is disturbing – they are joyfully using this to attack immigration..

never mind the murder, just look at the coverage!! look over there! The Journal…..knuckle draggers……
Let’s all be upset at the coverage and comments.

    Oh
    There was someone murdered?

Oh I see, and the folks over on the other media sites wouldn’t dare use this as a means of promoting their own bias or agenda. Like it or not, that is what the media is these days.

I’m confused here! Andrew seems rightly upset that people seem to be concentrating on details of the attacker rather than the victim(s). Now Mildred, I’m trying to understand your response..who are the ‘folks’? The publishers or the commenters? What bias/agenda are you referring to (and from whom is this coming from)? And what IS ‘the media’ these days? I just don’t see the link between your comments…

I believe I may owe Andrew an apology for flying off the handle actually. Sorry, Andrew. It was a case of type first and read second, leaving me red faced and foolish. Sorry again.

My initial reading was that Andrew was condemning Broadsheet for posting this. I was referring to editorial decisions, as opposed to comments, but either way, he makes a fair point.

However, my own point is that, on the journal, for example, they post the story as news, tagged as ‘must read’, knowing it will kick off a frenzy of comments from their readers, all of whom have a certain agenda or bias. The same is true of the editors at the journal. And here at Broadsheet, and any other outlet the world over.

And people, sadly, will focus on the ethnicity/nationality of the perpetrator as opposed to the victim because that is the current social climate we are living in, and the media (radio, tv, internet, social media etc) is reflecting this and contributing to this.

The Journal did the exact opposite of this so far on this story. They hid it until the press conference and deleted hundreds of comments on their facebook page and comment section.

Spot on Andrew. Somebody was stabbed to death and some people’s reaction is to express outrage at commentary they don’t agree with. Darting around looking for people who don’t adhere to their liberal orthodoxy. Really disrespectful to the person who had died today.

      1. Go A Way

Wrong: you have merely identified one of the reactions put forward here by some people.

You don’t actually know how those people reacted to the news of the murder itself as they have not chosen to share that here.

Ps you’re a willy and so is Andrew. Happy to help.

  2. ReproBertie

Assaults (both minor and those causing actual bodily harm) are up to 10,600 in the 12 months to October 2017.
The vast majority of people involved (assailant and victim) are males aged 18-39. Over 50% take place between the hours of 8pm and 5am. 75% of the assaults do not involve alcohol.

Isn’t this something we should be talking about? I feel like this is something that needs addressing.

      1. ReproBertie

According to the figures only 25% involved intoxication of the assailant, the victim or both.

Melissa Butler (clearly a fan of Justin Barrett) says she wants an Ireland not free merely, but Gaelic as well; not Gaelic merely, but free as well.

No clue what that means but one thing is for sure, because of the multinationals like PayPal, Dundalk boasts of a wide range of nationalities and ethnic backgrounds now, and very few people would disagree that the town is all the better for it.

    Speak for yourself love.

A bit too close to the border to attempt redefining what Irish Nationalism means I expect. Does this Melissa Butler person even exist?
