Hate when people say stupid things like, such and such “… has done lot for Ireland.”
    What does that mean?

Well I suppose originally he was someone to get behind (unless you hate the sport itself and its violence) because he was winning all the time and he was a ‘character’ in his antics. He was also a poster boy for self-belief I thought. This raised our stock in the ‘little island exporting big talent’ internationally. So maybe she means what he did for our profile. This was before he lost the plot and started acting like a tool.

“No, like, Conor McGregor is the actual best. He’s done so much for Ireland, like, even people who appear on reality TV in England have heard of him, which is the, like, gold standard of brill ambassador for this country…”

and what exactly has he done for ireland? i’m not saying it’s his responsibility to do something for ireland, but what the fupp does she mean? he’s done a lot for ireland. how? He fights (or used to) for money, and bangs on about how loaded he is the rest of the time (all of the time) .. hardly something that has enriched the country.

      Makes me laugh
Vogue Williams who famously stated Irish men had hygiene problems as in they stick to high heavens
Connor mc Gregor used our flag to promote himself to make money
She is quite the air head

      1. The Ghost of Starina

“our flag” – david I thought you said your parents left the country when your ma was pregnant with you?

So tell me what makes you Irish?
          Living here?
          Brought up here?
          Religion?
          Or being born here?
Seems to me you are quite the sectarian bigot
Actually born here and lived here but brought up in the UK

          1. Rob_G

I don’t know what indefinable qualities make a person Irish, but a rabid obsession with leaving the EU, and racism towards people of Indian heritage are two things that we tend to associate with Little Englander types; maybe that’s why everyone calls you English.

Thug: a violent person, especially a criminal.

There’s no debate when definitions are this clear. What has renting out Funderland got to do with anything? I never even knew that was an option for redeeming myself.

    1. filly buster

she also got that part wrong, he rented it out for his sons holy communion or whatever. nothing about the community.

        1. filly buster

haha whatever it was. im not religious but one of those nonsense things catholics force on their kids.. baptism maybe? god isnt real it doesnt matter.

      1. ReproBertie (SCU)

But which is your favourite Joker? Cesar Romero? Jack Nicholson playing Cesar Romero’s Joker? Heath Ledger playing Jack Nicholson playing Cesar Romero’s Joker? Jared Leto?

        1. Harry Molloy

I have to say Jack, I love it from childhood when I first saw that film, which was dark and exciting as hell

          1. ReproBertie (SCU)

I’d probably be the same but I’m interested to see what Leto does with him.

I rewatched the Keaton Batman recently. Let’s say no more about it.

          2. Neilo

@Repro and Harry: If Leto continues the form he showed in Suicide Squad, that will kill the franchise stone dead. The only thesp earning their corn in the film was Margot Robbie. I’m aware this is only one nerd’s opinion.

  5. TheRealJane

I never saw Brendan O’Connor presents Vogue Williams Speaks before last night.

It wasn’t all that great, in fairness.

  6. Conde Fast

    Brendan O’Connor
    Vogue WIlliams
    David Davin-Power
    and Alison O’Connor?

can anyone think of a better example of the cliquishness of Irish media?

I know every episode of Cutting Edge is like this but I think this is the best/worst

  7. rotide

Jaysus, Vogue is one thing, but that’s some olympic level pearl clutching from Alison O’Connor

  8. anne

It seems to be a requirement to be devoid of a personality to be on that talk show. Case in point – David Davin Power.. jesus he’s some plank. The mouth was moving but there was no facial expression whatsoever. What a drone.

    1. Cu Cullan

He actually defended RTÉ the time redacted had a gag on them.. he thought it was fine.. I kid you not..

  9. Rugbyfan

vogue Williams..Explain in your own words how you have a career…famous for hanging with slightly more famous people?

  10. Frilly Keane

3 from the 4 are RTE contract Players
and shur Alison is on that much she must have her own car space/ dressing room

and this is considered Cutting Edge

remember this the next time Some of ye, looking at you Rottie, are cribbing about BS.tv

    1. Scundered

No no no, this can’t be happening, I love Vogue, there I said it, if you’re watching Vogue, don’t do it.

  11. realPolithicks

Not to go off on a tangent here and I do agree that McGregor is a pedal and cranker who may be suffering from roid rage or something similar. But does rte have a roster of about 10 or 15 people that they talk to all the time?
I listen to podcasts of Irish radio shows and I swear that Allison O’Connor is on every one of them.

    1. wellness

I had to google Alison O Connor. I studiously ignore RTE .
Her familiarity reinforces my sanctimonious contempt for RTE.

      1. realPolithicks

I listen to rte podcasts to try to keep up with whats happening in Ireland. For some reason she is on every other one.
