Uncomfortable Silence

at

This morning.

Kildare County Council.

Gorugeen Fingeltons writes:

This protest occurred in response to KCC refusing to accommodate a motion by Councillors Joanne Pender and Brendan Young. The motion related to the upcoming referendum. The reason for the refusal is truly appalling.

The motion would make some members of the council uncomfortable

Needless to say this has been met with derision and incredulity.

Councillor Pender and KCC Mayor Miley will discuss the issue at 9.30am on KFM tomorrow.

Kildare Together For Yes

Meanwhile…

This afternoon.

Merchants Quay, Dublin 8

Paul (medical scientist) writes:

Shameful behaviour outside The Coombe, a centre of excellence for the care of women and neonates. There’s women on St Gerard’s [gynaecological ward] who’ve miscarried and women seeking help in our Emergency room EVERY day. Vulnerable women. We must repeal!

  1. well

I would really need to know what motion was being avoided?

Also that ICBR display outside that hospital is just atrocious. Why would they think that’s ok?

    1. gorugeen

The motion was to call for a yes vote in the referendum. It seems that NO discussion either way would be allowed. This, despite KCC discussing motions on the last referendum and myriad other causes.

  2. Grace

The Gardai must have received dozens of complaints about the ICBR by now – all they seem to do is move them and their disgusting signage on. They are not even Irish from what I can tell, which is even more infuriating.

A charge of some kind might be more appropriate?
Just telling them to clear off every single time is pointless, and is such a waste of local resources.

    1. ReproBertie (SCU)

Are they the crowd from the UK or US that John McGuirk said were helping nobody and that both sides would prefer if they just went home?

    1. Listrade

Yeah what could possibly be wrong with that? I’m sure every single woman in the hospital had a thoroughly pleasant time and none at all might have had any trauma where that picture might be inappropriate and wholly insensitive.

But yeah, a picture of Jesus with a logo just shows both sides are as bad as each other. I suppose the screeching hypersensitivity of the no campaign yet again takes precedence over a mother’s.

    2. Andyourpointiswhatexactly?

I stood at that exact spot sobbing on my own after getting the news that the 11-week old foetus I was carrying had died. I would have ripped those fupping signs down were they there that day.

        1. Andyourpointiswhatexactly?

Thank you. It was appalling but I’ve had joyous times there since (inside, not that exact spot!): such is life.

      1. Vanessa, off the Telly

        Hello AndYourPointIsWhatExactly.
It is always very sad to hear stories like yours, and if you don’t mind I’m going to comment as a former employee of that hospital.

One of the reasons why I was very proud about working therel was that all walks of life go in and out those doors, every day, and everyone has a different story to tell. Just like your own, and they were very different, experiences there.

One thing I brought home with me everyday, and maybe you might recognise why I’m sharing it with you now, was that everyday ended with more good news that bad.

        1. Andyourpointiswhatexactly?

Thank you. I love the Coombe: the staff in there were always superb—in good times and in bad.

        2. Andyourpointiswhatexactly?

I just hate that spot outside as it brings me crashing back to one of the crappest times In my life every time I pass it.

This is what we are voting for
If you cannot stomach the reality of abortion then have no abortion

    1. ReproBertie (SCU)

As LoveBoats spokesman John McGuirk said, it’s a bit much to claim to respect the unborn if you’re parading posters of the remains of the unborn.

    2. J9

David. People are well aware of what we are voting for. How patronising can you get?! I can stomach the reality of abortion just fine thank you. If you don’t see the problem with this then you are a heartless idiot.

      1. david

The reason I said this is we are talking about taking a life which is the most serious act anyone can do
And these visions of a foetus or what ever you want to call it is the reality of abortion in its gory detail
The repeal mob want to trivialise it by detachment and images of aborted foetuses ram home what abortion is
Its a serious business and as such these images are vital

        1. ReproBertie (SCU)

You’re going to be very disappointed when you realise that everybody knows what abortion is. These pictures tell us nothing new. They just satisfy the gore lust of these christian nut jobs.

    3. ReproBertie (SCU)

So far today david has expressed concern that the RCC might deny women in Ireland access to abortion and now he’s repeating the pro-choice “if you don’t like abortion don’t have one” line.

Always nice to see another Retainer switching sides.

      1. david

I am to show the fact that if abortion on demand is passed sadists still will die dependent on which hospital they go to and our 300 million plus national maternity hospital could be one of the hospitals doing exactly that
And this is fact reported in the media not fake news but fact
Bertie keep burying your head in the sand and do what you are told

        1. ReproBertie (SCU)

Great to see your transformation from man happy to vote for more women to die to champion of women’s rights.

Your “fact” is not being reported because it is scaremongering garbage. Abortion up to 12 weeks is a pill.

    4. Listrade

Ah so it’s ok if the picture is related to the vote. I look forward to you supporting pictures of a stillborn with FFA that another was forced to see through to delivery. Or maybe a picture of a kidney in transplant box bypassing a woman who is a match because they won’t do the operation because she is pregnant. How about a woman sick with cancer who can’t get treatment? Yeah we could have them outside schools and churches.

      1. david

        Well do it
Better than pictures of Jesus advertising the repeal lobby logo using a site of the Irish holocaust in promoting abortion on demand
Which was both blasphemous and desecrating the site where horror was an everyday occurrence

    5. Nigel

The placement of these pictures show much they love ‘both.’ Women need to be shamed and disgusted by their bodies and by their health care. You hold women in utter contempt.

  4. gorugeen

The response to those sickos at the George was priceless. I bet this lot claim to be better christians than everyone else.

    1. ReproBertie (SCU)

It’s always interesting that the Christians jump onto the judging, which Jesus told them not to be doing, and ignore the loving, which he was a big fan of.

      1. mildred st. meadowlark

Much more fun to be a self-righteous, judgemental prick than to love everyone equally regardless of who they are or what they do.

        1. Janet, I ate my Avatar

          much easier too
bunch of hypocritical self important ignorant delusional fools
I can’t comment on these threads without getting sooo frustrated

          1. mildred st. meadowlark

Same. I’ve decided to take a leaf out of your book and try to comment on this as little as possible. Otherwise… a very angry and incoherent Millie emerges. It’s all too easy to get riled up.

          2. Andyourpointiswhatexactly?

Yup. I’m self-censoring. Full of fupp offs and fupp yous. Grrr. Fupping c-bombs.

          3. Andyourpointiswhatexactly?

That’s too nice, really. Shove it up yer fupping crusty hoop was a contender.

  5. Bill

Shameful to not want to kill an unborn baby, haha repealers really are the shameful ones. Cannot wait to hear them moan for the next 30+ years until the next referendum when this one doesn’t pass.
