Irish Taoiseach Leo Varadkar tells the press after voting in the #AbortionReferendum he’s not “taking anything for granted” but there is “a good turn out so far across the country” which he believes is advantageous to the @Together4yes campaign to repeal the #8thAmendment pic.twitter.com/4EyrY08HNX

This morning.
President Michael D Higgins and wife Sabina cast their vote in today’s referendum at St Mary’s Hospital, Phoenix Park, Dublin, while Taoiseach Leo Varadkar casts his in Castleknock Dublin.
Meanwhile…
Voted at 7.40am in Knocklyon. Polling clerk said that the turnout in the first 40 minutes had been "absolutely huge". #8thref

Ok just voted in Harold’s Cross. When I remarked it was busy was told it’s been like that since early.
“Never seen anything like it in terms of the supplementary register. All young people”.

Turnout sandymount star of the sea at 11:30. 30% with 33% on the supplementary register has voted already just above average.#repealthe8th #Together4Yes @labour @rtenews

Turn out in Beggars Bush polling station 15%@10am way ahead of normal turnout normally only hits 15% at lunchtime.#together4yes #repealthe8th @labour

I’ve been to polling stations in Rialto, Drimnagh and Carrigaline so far today and it’s very busy. #TogetherForYes #Repealthe8h (PS I only voted in one!)

High early turnout at Blackpool Community Centre, Cork City. Polling staff remarking on the number of young voters. #repealthe8th #HometoVote #Together4Yes

I've seen turnout being described as 'brisk' in other places. More of a slow, sparse shuffle in Lusk at 10:30. #8thRef #repealthe8th

There are 529 people living on Aranmore. More than 500 of them cast their votes this morning. Quite the turnout!#repealthe8th #TogetherForYes

Leo’s one of the reason’s I voted yes. The man shouldn’t exist.
I laughed and I probably shouldn’t have but sure feck it.
I reached peak hysterical last night listening to the strident no voter on the BS telly
It’s good to vent
back to zen today
How come the corrupt mass media can take photos in the polling station and I can’t take a selfie?
PS I don’t do selfies.
good point well made.
I thought leo would have voted with his partner.
I’d say he probably just used a pen
that’s that Broadsheeter’s Leo’s voted and the campaign is over
You can resume hostilities
C’mere
Carrigaline t’ Drimnagh
Is he in a Chopper?
The mums that I spoke to outside my child’s Montessori – all voting No. Huge crowd at daily mass today – all trooped across to vote afterwards – wouldn’t say there were too many Yes voters there.
I’m a fervent Yes voter but I’m sensing a strong drift towards No. I really hope I’m wrong.
don’t panic @Scarylady
It’ll take more than a rear ended FR from Stansted or a packed morning mass to make the difference here.
The turnout is looking off scale.
I can tell you straight every single one of the 8 working for me are enthusiastic YES votes, in my family it’s 7:3
I think it’s a 10-15 point spread
I sincerely hope you’re right – and that potential Yessers turn out to vote (& not get diverted by Friday night shenanigans). To me – the high turnout is indicative of a very high No vote.
I was on the #HomeToVote thread on twitter last night and it was very heartwarming. Lots of repealers and yes votes making their way home.
I don’t want to be cocky or complacent, but I am hopeful. I am so hopeful for change.
You keep track of how your employees vote? Yikes.
nah no overlord conspiracy I’m afraid, no influence, I picked them well they’re just a bunch of fine young local people mostly who voted for the 1st time & were excitedly chatting amongst themselves most of the morning about how they voted – you’ll be glad to know I let them all away for a couple of hours to get their vote in. but whatever. 8-0.
Huge crowd at mass. LOL! Are you posting from 1983?
I live in Bogmcbackward (not actual name) in Connacht and there has been a lot of support for yes here.
I see the presidents box has all the ducks in a row.
it’s a baby not a foetus according to Leo..
Correct.
In your opinion.
In Leo’s opinion.
PS – fact.
is a cake a cake when it’s dough without the oven ?
no
Is an egg a chicken? Is an acorn an oak tree?
