Harcourt Street, Dublin 2.

The cast of Copper Face Jacks the Musical launch the “all-singing, all-dancing puppet based musical extravaganza” before it opens at the Olympia Theatre this summer from July 5.

Copper Face Jacks the Musical is written by Paul Howard and stars Johnny Ward (Fair City, Love/Hate) as Gino Wildes, Roseanna Purcell (Red Rock) as Noeleen Ní Gearailt and Michele McGrath as Gretchen Ackerman.

And Avenue Q started the tongue-in-cheek puppet musical thing as far back as 2003. It’s certainly unusual to see Paul Howard’s name attached to a collection of stale jokes and crudely drawn stereotypes.

Johnny Ward – wasn’t he the one in the “Katie Locked Up In the Box” plot line in Fair Chitty that went on for like 2 years? Some talent they have on board there.

Aren’t you all sick – SICK – of this tired little Paul Howard toxic masculinity ROCK/Coppers by proxy narrative? His “wit” played his part in the #IBelieveHer sickener but kept his head down. As did his major weekly outlet for his sewage – the Oirish Toimes.

    Moron central.

Papi, in his second paragraph, he’s referring to the Gate Theatre opening William Shakespeare’s ‘The Rape Of Lucrece’, on the very day the verdict from the so-called Belfast rugby rape trial was announced. Very insensitive move and cheap stunt, considering the huge impact the case had on the entire country.
