WATCH: A lighter moment in the Seanad as @SenDavidNorris recalls the first Gay Pride march in Dublin in 1974. He was speaking as the Seanad and Dáil supported a Labour motion on the 25th anniversary of the repeal of laws on homosexuality. *contains strong language* pic.twitter.com/dhSAFEwEDb

In the Dáil chamber on the 25th anniversary of decriminalisation, hugely moved to hear @campaign An Taoiseach offer state apology to all men convicted of consensual sexual offences and the shame and exclusion that followed from those unnecessary and cruel prosecutions.

In fairness.
Who were these ‘Patriots’ whose homosexuality was “no secret”. Never heard of them meself. Ah well, never mind.
Pearse. Casement. Pretty much undeniable for the two of them.
Some people have made claims about Collins but there’s really nothing to even imply it.
And not forgetting the women – Kathleen Lynn and Madeline ffrench-Mullan
Casement, yes – but I thought that the consensus on Pearse was more asexual boy idoliser?
Interesting factette, Casements boyfriend was contacted by British Military Intelligence while they travelled through Oslo, at the Grand Hotel and offered 5000 pounds to turn him in. That’s nearly half a million today.
Clann na gayles
EEEK, a hotbed of deviants, Cian! No wonder we’re a disaster :-D
Maybe there could be a sign on in the dole office which indicates the gays in rural Ireland now? That would definitely make for interesting results.
Hoping to find the only other gay in the village?
I wasn’t joking Daisy. There has been no real research done on the subject. Then again, I doubt if there is a more emigrated demographic in the first place.
