Pane Removal

at

This morning.

Leinster House, Dublin 2

Labour TD Joan Burton (with Senator Kevin Humphries) speaking to the media about a bill for a standing commission on tax PLUS an attempted burglary at her home last night (while she attended a community crime meeting).

Ms Burton said:

“The burglar, who appears to have been a woman, thought she was able to take out one of the panes of glass in our kitchen window and there wasn’t a scratch on it. So I have to say that shocked me more than anything else….”

Odd statement. Lots of women involved in petty theft – often to feed an addiction.Plus was she able to remove the pane and was successful, or only thought she could but was successful? (i.e. ‘not a scratch’).

I don’t understand. Is she saying the woman removed the glass without a scratch? Why did she say she “thought” she could do it?

I hope that burglar is found and punished severely , for the crime of giving Joan the opportunity to appear in the media again

I don’t particularly like the woman, in many ways she is an example of all that is wrong with Irish politics. Another vile, disingenuous, overpaid public servant that virtue signals on all things socialistic but is herself extremely well paid and affluent.
I don’t know why Labour politicians in particular need to call press conferences over such matters. It reminds me of this https://www.irishtimes.com/news/ireland/irish-news/higgins-thinks-death-threats-came-from-right-wing-nationalist-1.2293449
she got weeks of coverage that story.
That all being said I will give Joan the benefit of the doubt here. Everyone deserves to feel safe and secure in their own home. I hope the burglar is prosecuted to the full extent of the law.
