What You’ll Be Wearing Next Season

This morning.

The Westbury Hotel, Dublin 2

Model Appiok Tong (pics 2-3) and designer Eimear Helly (in her own creations: pic 1-4) unveil a selection of garments by the winners of the Design & Crafts Council of Ireland’s Future Makers Awards & Supports Programme 2018.

Future Makers “rewards the next generation of Irish creatives, helping them develop an exciting future in the design and craft industry”.

Now you can wear your security blanket.

Finally.

      Stop, collaborate and listen.

On another note, whoever does the flowers for the Westbury is gifted. Always beautiful.
I’d love to be in there quaffing a Campari with fresh pink grapefruit juice right now. Sigh.

Love the troosers and scarf at the top. The wool nun’s habit though, can’t wait to hear the designer’s inspiration behind that one….

Yes, I can see Meghan Markle’s next visit to The Blanch is now already styled…

I like the last one. My fashion knowledge is non existent but I think it has a Chinese or Japanese traditional dress vibe, helped by the China Doll expression on Eimear’s face which, as normally indicating innocence but coupled with her power stance, I think shows huge confidence.

And I seriously mean that as a compliment.

I cannot design anything, and I feel unqualified to criticise those who can. I keep thinking of The Devil Wears Prada where it was pointed out that sometimes the point of fashion is to show what can be done in new and creative ways, and this then influences what becomes the next round of main market trends.

    I say kudos to all!

I can’t identify with stuff like this, sorry. I couldn’t remotely imagine myself (or any of the girls/women I know) wearing any of these things, no matter the occasion.
Is number 2 a suggestion for Afghanistan?
