“US President Donald Trump has said he accepts that Russia sought to influence the 2016 US election, and claimed he misspoke by appearing to accept Vladimir Putin’s denials over those of his own intelligence chiefs.”

    ROFL! What a tool.

      1. SOQ

I’d be waiting to see what the mid terms in November say before loosing the run of your conspiratorial self there. If the results are bad, he won’t even complete the first term. Also he will be 75 by then, so health will probably be a factor.

        1. jusayinlike

The US economy is the best it’s been since 2000, Trumps health seems to be fine, he doesn’t wear a colostomy bag in his suits like Hillary, short of an alien attack and with no viable alternative being positioned by the democrats, Trump will easily romp home to a second term.

          1. Andyourpointiswhatexactly?

Back the fupp up. Colostomy bag? Proof, please! Actual proof, not someone’s opinion.

        2. jusayinlike

          “your conspiratorial self..”

says she who claimed Russian trolls hacked the DNC..

          1. SOQ

What I said was that it was possible that DNC systems were comprised and Hillary Clinton may have used another server to ensure proper security. It’s not the sort of thing that would ever be made public but may somewhat explain why some seem so obsessed with it.

Not that any of that matters now as the clown is in office. Back peddling about what was said with Putin already I see. And as for colostomy bags, even if true, do you run around in the real world talking about people who have them too? Grow up.

        3. MaryLou's ArmaLite

Won’t complete the first term, seriously? You know so little about how politics works.

He will complete the first term because the democrats want him to and because they cannot get their heads out of their asses in order to figure out how to beat him.

          1. SOQ

If the Republicans bomb in the midterms, the Christian right will really go for him. They think he is a cuckoo in the nest in the first place and to them, Pence is way more preferable.

It’s a wait and see situation I think.

          2. jusayinlike

The Christian right are perfectly happy with Trump whinging about abortion. He will see a second term.

          3. Nigel

Similar dynamic to the pizzagaters who support him despite all the sexual assault allegations, close association with some famous child abusers and support for Roy Moore.

  2. Sheik Yahbouti

Lads, does anyone miss the days when all we had to do was flirt with Mildred and attempt to win her favour, by fair means or foul?

    1. Lush

We were young and carefree and had the rest of our lives in front of us.
      Those were simpler times.

      1. SOQ

No. Let’s hope this guy wasn’t the lead drummer, otherwise the rest would have been running hard just to keep up.

          1. SOQ

            Nope just different devices.

Anyways my new band shall be called ORANGE MEN ON COKE.

Has a certain ring to it no?

  3. Ollie Cromwell

    Lovely jubbly.
One step closer to a proper Brexit as May finally has the balls to see off Tory Remain rebels.
New poll out in the proper Times gives Labour six point lead but more importantly UKIP steadily rising in popularity.
Come back Nigel Farage – your country needs you.

    1. ReproButina

      According to the Sasamach ministry
no deal will cost 2,800,000 jobs and £158bn per year.

Meanwhile the EU has signed a free trade deal with Japan.

      Lovely jubbly indeed.

      1. SOQ

Yes that will have serious implications for the Japanese companies in GB, especially Toyota who are a major employer there.

        1. dav

except for the fact when Britain’s’ economy catches a cold, our economy will be gasping with swine-flu

          1. ReproButina

Yeah, that may have been true back in the 80’s but our economy is much more reliant on the EU than the UK now.

Which is just as well given an Roinn Sasamach’s predictions for their economy in the even of a No Deal Sasamach.

    2. Andyourpointiswhatexactly?

“Come back Nigel Farage – your country needs you.”

Check your transcripts. You’re missing a “Don’t” and a “doesn’t”. And no s in needs. Apart from that, bingo!

      1. Ollie Cromwell

        Top man is Nigel.
Most successful politician of his age.Single-handedly fired up UKIP and bounced Cameron into a referendum the Tory toff lost.
Prime Minister May’s worst nightmare is a resurgent UKIP with Nigel holding the balance of power at the next election.
        Lovely jubbly indeed.
What a Brexit to look forward to.
Ireland, meanwhile, will have to find a new backside to stick its nose up once Frau Merkel gets the jackboot from a German electorate furious over immigration.
And still the immigrants flood into Ireland putting pressure on overcrowded health, education and social services systems.
        Marvellous stuff.

        1. ReproBuntai

“still the immigrants flood into Ireland”
Not that Sasaamch was about racism of course but with a little over 1/2 million non-Irish nationals living in Ireland, and of those just over 103,000 are Brits, it’s not exactly a flood so hard cheese old boy.

Enjoy that cheese by the way, according to the LSE it’ll be a luxury item post Sasamach with the WTO tariffs increasing the cost by some 41%. Sadly, without the EU, Britain can’t provide enough dairy for its own needs.

          1. Cian

I suspect there are a greater percentage of immigrants working in our hospitals than are using them.

        2. Nigel

Imagine pinning your hopes and dreams on Farage. You’ll get what you deserve there all right.

          1. Ollie Cromwell

Oooh Nigel you got me there.Cut to the quick.
How can I ever show my face here again ….

          2. Nigel

Well judging by your comments you do not experience human emotions such as shame, sorrow or regret and are completely devoid of conscience or compassion so I expect you’ll manage.

  4. Giggidygoo

‘ No plan Varadkar’ is basically the headline today. Ramping up at customs posts? No – nothing ramped up or new or even discussed with customs people at those locations.
All varadkar can pray for now is an election that FG loses. His first year in office has been a shambles and anti-ireland.

    1. ReproButina

“Minister for Foreign Affairs Simon Coveney will brief the Cabinet on Wednesday at its meeting in Derrynane, Co Kerry, about preparations for Brexit, including the recruitment of hundreds of customs officers and other measures at ports and airports.”

      https://www.irishtimes.com/news/politics/brexit-varadkar-steps-up-plans-for-no-deal-exit-due-to-turmoil-in-westminster-1.3568388

Of course there’s a plan. Nobody wants physical customs posts at the border as they provide an easy physical target for dissident republicans. If they do have to go up it won’t happen until much closer to the date.

      1. Cian

There is a fine line between being prepared for a hard border – and hiring sufficient staff; and the possibility that Brexit is delayed/cancelled/soft border – and ending up will 100s of people hired but with nothing to do.
Could you imagine the grief on Joe Duffy if the state hired 100s of custom officers that were not needed. “It’s a disgrace Joe, and they won’t hire any nurses…”

          1. GiggidyGoo

No. I haven’t any time for Joe Duffy. It may be your go-to source for information, but not mine.
Have you seen all of these new jobs advertised? No – thought not.
By the way, when customs personnel were no longer needed when the EU did away with border crossings NO personnel were let go. They were transferred to the VRT section, which then had its responsibilities moved to the NCT and still none of these were let go even though their jobs became defunct for the second time. They ended up in ‘Revenue’ tax departments as such, which had plenty staff already. ( now think about that and then outsourcing of the LPT from revenue to Abtran )
So, pardon me for actually knowing something about how this sham operates.
There has been NO indication or preparation yet at customs posts. In fact, as regards NI there aren’t even customs posts.

          2. MaryLou's ArmaLite

They couldn’t fire them as half the public sector would go on strike. This is why a lot of operations are now outsourced to the private sector, easier to ramp up and down.

For a lad with a lot of knowledge you are quite dim.

        1. GiggidyGoo

See my reply to the gob below.
There are trained customs personnel in the states employment that were scattered throughout the system, adding unneeded staff to other departments, just to keep the associations happy. No one let go.
No need to hire new staff. Just Move them back.
Joe Duffys whine line would be inundated with the ‘give us more money ‘ tribe from the PS.

      2. GiggidyGoo

‘A reading from the gospel according to DeVarad. And the response is ‘Oh leader DeVarad, we place all our trust in you’’
        Mutter mutter mutter
        ‘Response’
        Mutter mutter border mutter
        ‘Response’
        Mutter mutter housing mutter
        ‘Response’
        Mutter mutter Health mutter
        ‘Response’

        Continue ad nauseum.
There is NO plan at the moment. They plan to have a plan – sometime.

          1. jusayinlike

He’s plenty funnier than you rotide/editor. He’s also not an establishment contrarion, like you.

        1. ReproButina

Given that all government departments have been working on contingency and preparation for years now I’d love to know how you know there’ s no plan. I mean, you’re so adamant with your capital letters and all. Please enlighten us.

          1. Cian

            this.
And it is really difficult to plan what we should do next because the Brits don’t even know what they are doing?

          2. jusayinlike

Other then vague notions of extra security and more toll booth workers what contingency plans have been either announced or prepared by this government?

          3. jusayinlike

You claim the Brit’s don’t know what they’re doing.. why are you so sure our government knows what its doing?

          4. ReproButina

It’s not a claim. The British government don’t know what they are doing which is why it took them two years to publish a white paper which was immediately shredded. Sasamach is a shambles and they still haven’t decided what it means yet.

          5. jusayinlike

So no plan either side of the pond, outside of vague references to extra staff for border control?

          6. ReproButina

Have you tried google jsl? The department of agriculture, for example, published a 7 point plan in April 2017. Yes, over a year ago. The department also has a fund set up to help agriculture in the event of a no deal Sasamach.

          7. jusayinlike

A report from over a year ago and a rainy day fund is precisely the underwhelming approach this government has taken to Brexit, I’m not surprised..

          8. jusayinlike

This government is kicking the can until May is ousted and a softer pointless approach is adopted therefore reducing their obligation to be more pro active..

          9. ReproButina

A plan published over a year ago presented as evidence that the government is in fact planning for Sasamach and has been for quite some time.

            Sorry it spoiled your narrative.

          10. jusayinlike

Over a year ago with seven small points, and you think that covers it..????

They’re doing the bare minimum.. holding they’re breath hoping May is pushed out and a softer approach adopted..

In fairness, they probably get they’re orders from Brussels which is to not work with the Brit’s and therefore keep the ball in they’re court and the pressure constantly on the Tories..

Do you honestly think that’s enough though? (genuine question)

          11. ReproButina

Are you being deliberately thick? Of course that doesn’t cover it. It’s one example, easily discovered, of the government’s preparations and evidence of something that you and Giggidy deny exists but which has been going on for years.

            Here’s a few more.

The IDA and the Bar of Ireland launched an initiative in January to highlight Ireland as an English language centre for international law, now that the UK is taking itself out of the game.

The IDA has also been working with pharmaceutical and financial firms since the referendum to attract jobs from the UK to Ireland. So far 18 investment projects have been approved with a potential for 2,500 jobs.

The Ministers for Business, Enterprise and Innovation, and for Education and Skills launched a report last month on the skills that will be needed arising from trade implications of Sasamach.

Ministers and senior Civil servants have been meeting their counterparts and business leaders in the UK and the EU as part of preparations for both a hard and soft Sasamach. This has been going on since the referendum.

Enterprise Ireland has been holding Sasamach Advisory Clinics to help business prepare for Sasmach.

Bord Bia recently released their Sasamach Barometer report which showed that ” 74% of respondents have made progress in preparing for the potential outcomes of [Sasamach] compared to this time last year”.

There’s a €300 million Sasamach loan scheme for business and a €25 million Sasamach response loan for the agri food industry.

These are things I found in minutes on Google. All are evidence of the government planning for Sasamach and helping businesses plan for Sasamach, something you and Giggidy deny is happening.

          12. Cian

            @ReproButina
All right, but apart from the sanitation, the medicine, education, wine, public order, irrigation, roads, a fresh water system, and public health, what contingency and preparation has the government done? NOTHING!

    2. MaryLou's ArmaLite

If the government did publish their border plans for no Brexit, people like yourself would be howling that it was proof that Leo wanted a hard Brexit.

      1. GiggidyGoo

So that’s the explanation then?. You’re take is as pathetic as the government’s dealing with it

        1. jusayinlike

Yea that’s it.. keep the cards close to chest and maintain Putin poker face..

          ominous

    1. Ollie Cromwell

It’s very convenient of Cork City to be out of the Champions League before the Premier League season starts.
Now there’s even less reason for Irish people not to support an English soccer club.

      1. SOQ

You have the personality of sandpaper. Tell me, how much are you being paid to write this rubbish?

  5. scottser

Sir Humphrey: “The only way to understand the Press is to remember that they pander to their readers’ prejudices.”
PM Hacker: “Don’t tell me about the press, I know exactly who reads the papers: The Daily Mirror is read by people who think they run the country; The Guardian is read by people who think they ought to run the country; The Times is read by people who actually do run the country; the Daily Mail is read by the wives of the people who run the country; the Financial Times is read by people who own the country; The Morning Star is read by people who think the country ought to be run by another country; and The Daily Telegraph is read by people who think it is.”
Sir Humphrey: “…Prime Minister, what about the people who read The Sun?”
Bernard interjects: “Sun readers don’t care who runs the country, as long as she’s got big tits.”

25% of all communication satellites orbiting in the Earth’s atmosphere were built in Britain.
Ireland is a leading producer of cow dung.
      Just putting this out there.

      1. jusayinlike

BAE are such a wonderful company, such integrity lining they’re pockets from warmongering..

      2. ReproButina

All that cow dung comes from cows supplying much of the UK’s dairy needs. Good luck making yoghurt from satellite parts.

        1. SOQ

It would be interesting to see the % breakdown of perishable food supplied to go from EU but unfortunately this type of data is kept top secret by these great democrats called brexiteers

          1. Ollie Cromwell

You wanna have a word with Leo then old chum.
Hard Brexit will devastate Ireland and he will have helped facilitate it.
            He backed the wrong horse.
” The EU are our friends … ” what an ignorant cretin.

          2. ReproButina

You think he should have backed the lame donkey causing the problem? The same lame donkey that forgot we existed until we became a roadblock?

Ireland is already preparing for the fall out from a hard Sasamach, with the help of our EU allies. The UK, meanwhile, is preparing for shortages of food and medicine and a massive unemployment spike. Sounds idyllic.

          3. Nigel

            ‘what an ignorant cretin.’

Careful there, Ollie, people might begin to think that there’s a wee bit of hostility and hatred behind your relentless propagandising.

          4. ReproButina

I don’t think it’s hatred Nigel. I think it’s a growing frustration that Ireland won’t dance to their self destructive tune.
