My father in law has been a guest of St Vincents University Hospital since Monday, he’s in one of the new Nutley Wing rooms.
Today we discovered human excrement in corner of the bathroom by the window. It’s been there since before he was admitted. Today is Saturday. Hospital staff have been informed.
Nothing done yet at time of writing. Also there are been creepy handprints on the doors of the lifts in the 2nd floor of the same wing. Directly in front of the nurses’ station I might add. Shower is also broken in his room.
No sign of him leaving any time soon. My guess though, is he’ll be gone before the shit is cleaned up…
This is what a €15 billion euro healthcare budget gets you in Ireland in the 21st century. Plenty of it on the floor of Dail Eireann too.
How often does it have to be said before people actually take it on board? This is ‘outsourcing’ and privatisation in all its glory. In my youth Hospital cleaning staff were directly employed, closely supervised (by dragons of Matrons a la Hattie Jacques) and took genuine pride and ownership in their good work. When have any of you yung’uns ever heard someone complain of the smell of anti-septic or bleach in a Hospital? it was a frequent excuse fado fado for not visiting “Can’t stand the smell of disinfectant, I get weak”!! Now it’s Contract cleaners on poverty wages, instructed to do the minimum.
No need for bleach; vinegar and baking soda are better, and far less toxic.
You’re right, no such thing as ‘hospital smell’ anymore.
You discovered this today…….and it was “there before he was admitted “!! It should not look fresh after 6 days.
OMG you are embarassing the man
I hope he is getting better.
You’re a poo expert, are you “Susan”? Thanks for that valuable insight.
probably related to Lorraine “ban the internet” Higgins..
SUSAN IS ACTUALLY GILLIAN MCKEITH
Can’t say I checked the freshness of it. Reasonably sure I’m the only person who has used the toilet.
I didn’t identify my father in law and I cleaned the shit off the floor.
I’m no fancy ghost doctor but those handprints look like 100% certain evidence of a ghost to me
So you can only clean them off with holy water
This is unacceptable but I recommend you;
1. Find out who has the cleaning contract for St. Vincent’s;
2. Then call them and ask for the Area Manager;
3. Describe your complaint to her/him with these photos;
4. If you are unsatisfied with their response, contact one of the directors of the company. All are easy to find online.
You could cc the relevant procurement person in the HSE but that’s difficult to find.
Good luck.
First call should be to HIQA.
We have an army to fund.
Don’t mention silly things like wanting clean, well run hospitals.
HSE budget is about €15 billion while the military budget is about €500 million. Your argument is ridiculous.
Send the army into the HSE to clean the toilets!
It was the same in 2002, the last time I had a family member in hospital. Nothing changes.
Gosh I hope that poo wasn’t there since 2002.
‘Twas the year two thousand and poo
Winner Winner
Hospital Dinner!!!
What’s also really concerning is the emergency/panic alarm cord is wrapped up around the support bar.
There’s another safety concern right there.
That is to stop the cord trailing in the poo….
There’s only one St Vincents that matters.
And its not the Public one.
