Yes,he “powered ” into third place according to the Examiner …
Good to see Paddy Jackson back earning a crust.

Well you are very good at running. You’re always running away from inconvenient facts.

Daily Torygraph as toxic as ever with that headline. Still, it will keep its readership of three people in Ireland happy.

Or make that two readers if the nurse has to draw the screens on the third again.

Don’t know but I think he’s forgetting about the Thatcherite blushirts who love the telegraph and their “privatise everything” mantra

      2. MaryLou's ArmaLite

I think he is mixed up the Daily Mail and the Telegraph.

Not like communists to get things arse over tit ;-)

Around a couple of thousand in Ireland.
Readers here much prefer the British tabloids with the Irish Daily Star and the Sun putting on over 100,000 copies a day between them and the Brexit-loving Daily Mail another 32,000.
Perhaps it’s the Premier league coverage ….

Stats show that far from fleeing the City as predicted in Project Fear most financial institutions are making modest,back-office adjustments to the way they do business which include setting up a regional office elsewhere.
Indeed the Mayor of the City has predicted 5,000 job losses post-Brexit,a fraction of the huge numbers being predicted by Remoaners.
The Moggster’s company already has significant representation in countries around the world, including Ireland.

It’s a trend. Improvements in life expectancy in the UK were considerable until around 2011, but the improvement since then has been next to nothing. It is also seen in the US. Some other countries are still improving on life expectancy (sorry: I don’t have Irish stats on this).

(I am tempted to say that improvements have stopped dead but that would be a pun too far).

      Likely causes:
      – Austerity
      – Poor lifestyles (e.g. increasing obesity, possibly increased use of opioids but the latter is not hitting the headlines the way that it is in the US)
      – Lack of best practice in the NHS.
The three parts overlap: for example, more Government spending on health promotion could be regarded as ‘NHS best practice, but austerity makes this difficult to afford, even though it might encourage people to improve their lifestyles.

I see Paddy Jackson made his debut in France. No doubt he’ll be a big hit with the women over there.

    1. Ollie Cromwell

      Certainly hope so.
The chap deserves to lead a rewarding life after being cleared of any wrong-doing.

      1. Topsy

I wonder will he be setting up a WhatsApp group for the guuys over there. Lots to talk about I’m sure.

      2. Martco

yeah. in second tier rugby with no serious club or international prospects. and plenty to tell the grandchildren about tho in his later years.

        1. Ollie Cromwell

          Second tier rugby ?
Perpignan are in the Top 14 this year.
You’ll be able to impart your new-found wisdom about this to the goys next time you’re out for a few Heinos.

          1. martco

especially poor attempt at your usual trolling Charger. Perpignan are a very poor team and currently favourites to go back down to where they’ve just come from. Hardly Leinster now are they Charger?

as regards to your weak attempt at Dublin southside mocking humour…it bears no relationship to me whatsoever, very wide of the mark. I don’t like Heino. and I don’t like you either.

          2. Ollie Cromwell

Just admit it chump, you got it wrong.
You’ll feel better in the morning knowing you’ve manned up.
You can hold your head high next time you’re flicking the goys in the shower with a wet towel.

        2. rotide

He has no international prospects but that will only make him more attractive if he has a good season in France this year. Perpignon have taken the hit, a bigger club will come in for him after a season or two if he plays well, Id guess.

          1. Ollie Cromwell

            Yup.
            Still only in his mid-20’s.
One good season with Perpignan who are probably going to be relegation contenders then jump ship to a better team.
As Zebo and others have decided a well-paid berth in France compensates for no international rugby.

@ Bodger – very surprised and dissapointed that you decided to publish that post earlier (which thankfully you subsequently removed).

    That is all

A photo of a homeless person that vaguely resembled a famous person – the joke was that ‘seems like[name] is looking a bit rough lately’.

GB GDP figures out this morning.
GDP growth rates for this year’s second quarter show Brexit Britain bowling along with impressive and better than expected 0.4% growth, double the rate of the first quarter.
Growth spurred by retail sales and construction.
Meanwhile the Eurozone grew on average by 0.3%, and France by just 0.2%.
Bank of England also confident of growth in the economy putting the first quarter figures down to poor weather affecting retail sales.
What will Continuity Remoaners make of this ?

  5. Andyourpointiswhatexactly?

Isn’t the fact they’re doing well (are they? I’m taking your facts as true) now a sign that it’s working well as it stands? Why change that?

    1. Ollie Cromwell

      Well,it’s not just the economy.
Brexit was driven by two main factors – immigration and the effect it has had on already poor, rundown areas in the North of England and Wales.
And ceding of power and control over laws to Brussels.
You’ve got to remember that 80% of businesses in the UK don’t export to Europe but they are still governed by the rules and regulations of that market.
But the interesting thing about the GDP figures as well as a lot of other good economic data is that many firms are still very confident about the future.
Basically people think their lives will be better out of the EU.

      1. Brother Barnabas

you can’t base a general analysis on GDP growth rates for a single quarter (well, you can, but it doesn’t mean much). whatever way you want to look at it, UK economic growth has stalled since the 2016 vote – in fact, UK economy has gone from being fastest-growing G7 economy in 2015 to the slowest-growing G7 economy in 2018. that in itself is alarming – the fact that it coincided with BoE loosening policy (which should have been a major boon to the UK economy) is even more so. something’s not right, charger, is it?

you regularly cite numbers employed: on the fact of it, employment figures look surprisingly good. but how come output growth has weakened at a time when more people are in employment? ONS commentary on this suggests it’s due to fact that the new jobs are low wage and primarily part time. UK real wages have severely contracted since the vote – if i recall, worst performance in the OECD with the exception of mexico.

if that wasn’t bad enough, business investment is weaker in the UK than anywhere else in the G7. that’s obviously going to hit future economic growth.

purchasing power is down, household incomes are down – not surprising that today’s YouGov survey reveals only a minority now support brexit.

        1. Ollie Cromwell

The simple fact is that the UK’s GDP grew more in the last quarter than the Eurozone average.
Dems de facts baby.Spin ’em how you want.
But here’s a bit of mood music while ya do it.
Boris’s brilliant closing speech at the televised debate that I reckon swung the referendum. It’s upbeat, optimistic and everything that the Remoaners hate about their country.
Just a reminder of why Boris will be the next PM of Blighty.

          1. Ollie Cromwell

One other little factoid to send you on your way.
Britain’s GDP has grown continuously over the past 34 quarters.
A slow but significant improvement in the economy.
And it coincides perfectly with the Tory government’s austerity measures.
A spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down !
            Wahaay !

So the Popes visit is causing more homelessness! I’m sure Jesus would be totally on board with this. Sounds like a Christian thing to do
