The ‘Change Makers’ and Bertie Ahern are scheduled for Kilkenny on Monday night

Free next Monday?

In Kilkenny?

Johnny Keenan (him of the telly!) writes:

Kilkenny Arts festival, the oldest arts festival in the country begins today.

It has decided in its wisdom to have Bertie “Smoke and Daggers’ Ahern interviewed this Monday by David ‘Bottle of smoke’ Davin Power, up to very recently with RTÉ, in St Canice’s Cathedral, Kilkenny City.

This is not an artistic or cultural experience. Plus its €16/14

In contrast there is another event happening (free with suggested donation) next Monday at St Canice’s Neighbourhood Hall…

The question is which one is of most interest to you?

Anyone?

Fight!

He applied for a council grant once and got it.
You’re in the corridors of power rotide.
Check out who gets all the art festival grants.

I think there is a bigger point to be made here.
4 change makers continuously and consistently fly the flag of the oppressed citizens. Brought mercifully on us by state departments.
So stop trying to side issue and once again troll on

      Read the memo

for what’s it worth, johnny – the pre-edit version ended with a nice flourish

        Pity i missed it.

The corridors round here are a bit lacking in power. Few old boxes and some posters though.

Flying the flag of the oppressed citizens? Jaysus.

The fact that Ahern faced no punishment for sinking the entire country for generations galls me. But that he gets to go around doing talks now like he’s an expert really gets under my skin. Mostly because if he’s asked to do talks he then seems himself as being viewed as a knowledable and great leader whos done no wrong.

Plus if he gets asked any “tough” questions he storms off in a huff, not that he’ll be asked any tough questions by an ex RTE guy.

The rehabilitation of The Bert continues apace:
Or maybe that should be his own attempted rehabilitation of himself.

We need to remind ourselves of the list now and then:
        The Bert.
        Ray Bourke
        Liam Lawlor.
        Pee Flynn.
        Pee’s “Class Act” daughter…Beverly.
        Sean Doherty.
        The Bull O’Donoghue.
        Willie O’Dea.

I’ve probably forgotten a few…or managed to erase them from memory.
Simple solution- they should have been deported.

The Bertie Ahern-David Daven Power conversation is stated not to be ‘an artistic or cultural event’. Bertie the politician excelled at the art of being one of the lads with his North Dublin accent and his studied grammatical mistakes. ‘Culture” tends to be regarded as music, drama, visual arts and literature; but culture is more than that: it concerns how societies live their lives – customs, beliefs, psychology, marriage & sex, cuisine, political systems and general etiquette. So the Bertie event is a cultural thing in that broader sense of the word.

Christ, Arts Festivals aren’t what they were. A few years back they had Spiritualized on in St. Canice’s Cathedral.

Now it’s a fireside chat between the gouger Ahern and his Griffith Avenue neighbour Davin Power.

Ladies and Gentleman we are floating in poo.

    1. Johnny Keenan

      Well said Otis.
That Spiritualised gig is local legend.
I wasn’t there but I love the stories.

      1. Otis Blue

        Fine gig it was.

Love the venue and saw Tindersticks and Low there as well. Hoping to get to Ballykeeffe Amphitheatre for something.

Kilkenny is a grand spot tbf. Had a grand night in the Hole in the Wall last week.

    Some neck on him…

Perhaps people should buy up all the tickets online and tout them for your money back plus hefty donations for the Ant-corruption event.

Any fool paying money to listen to Bertie / Power deserves to be fleeced.
