You Can Feel The Excitement

This arrived in the post this morning. List of closed roads (also as gaelige on the flip side).

Plus glorious low res map that @GardaTraffic tweeted before now scaled to A3.

Interesting legend for those red dots on the M50 junctions… ‘No cars past’ .. that’s news afaik .. If true it’ll be great for being out on the bike.

Anyone?

We’ll see on Sunday just what a massive clusterfupp it is! Going on an experience last year of trying to get my elderly dad to Croke park, it will be a nightmare. Over 4 and a half hours door to door. Now multiply Croke Park chaos by 5 and that’s the pope’s visit.

All seems very last minute. What if 6 people live in your house? If anything, these events….especially the transport side of things….seem over planned. Or, at least, poorly communicated to make it seem like getting anywhere, either to see or not to see the Pope, will require a PhD and a helicopter.

Am I the only one thinking that this might be a damp squib..I don’t know a single person interested in this visit by the head of the Vatican state…

Do you know any married people interested in this visit by the head of the Vatican state?

      Boom Boom!!

The requested page “/sites/default/files/content/RoadsandTraffic/ScheduledDisruptions/Documents/AGS%20TMP%20MAP%20(002)” could not be found.

It’s not very clear at all what is happening at those junctions. Its marked as blue route in implying you can go through, but who can go through, is it only ticket holders.
Also the quality of the image is dire, alot of the writing can’t be read, its on decent enough paper so they put some money into it but couldn’t be arsed to get a decent resolution image or print out a few test copies to check was it readable before printing out thousands and posting them out, eejits.

I just checked the forecast on the BBC. A lone, grey cloud icon for sunday. Dull in other words… no better description.

Got one through the post too. The map is completely illegible. Utter waste. You’re better off going online.

As for the whole only 4 per household thing: POO YOU! I’ll have whoever I want in my gaff. Might have a proper old school session just to be belligerent.

    1. Cian

um. I think the limit of 4 per household is to be allowed onto Church Street to watch the pope go by. I don’t think that the guards are actually issuing tickets for people to visit your gaff.

Please can someone answer without snapping, are these roads closed to pedestrians as well as cars? There is no clear indication!

  5. AssPants

Anybody when the tender for interested business’ to advertise on the road map went public, or was it just exclusive to the cronies within EOBA???

  6. Spaghetti Hoop

Sad that nobody checked the state of that map before stuffing the envelopes.
I couldn’t be the only one that has to do an airport run at the weekend – looking damned impossible.

Is there a legal requirement for a minimum notice time for road closures? Apparently we’re in a restricted area, but we haven’t received any notification.

  8. Jonjo

If I lived in the restricted route I’d invite friends over for a big party.

Restricting people to 4 in their own home, feck off!
