Meanwhile, On Newsnight

A report from Ireland and a discussion on BBC’s Newsnight with singer Mary Coughlan and Bishop of Derry Donal McKeown ahead of the Pope’s visit tomorrow

With lead in report produced by Yasminara Khan and guest item produced by Laura Gaynor, a name very familiar to ‘sheet readers.

G’wan Mary and Laura.

It’s interesting that Bishop McKeown mentioned ideology, power and corruption quite frequently within the few minutes he had to speak on behalf of the Church, but he never mentioned [Catholic] faith – it’s rather telling, IMO.

The broadcaster of choice of Varadkar when he needs to tell his lads how they should vote/support referendums.

Any chance this would appear on RTE ?
Just like the banking crisis if you needed to know what was really going on you tuned into anything else but the Irish state broadcaster.
Here’s a question – name me the last time an investigative programne on RTE produced the resignation of a government minister.
    Any government minister ?
    In any Irish government ?

The wannabe hacks on here don’t care about that because they aspire to be like those incompetent crooked politicians.

When was the last time a BBC investigation led to a UK Minister’s resignation. Part of the same problem the world over since the beginning.
