It’s as if the tea boy wrapped a suicide vest around his reputation and handed the detonator to someone else.

The Daily Express reports a cure for dementia ‘within a decade’.

Sadly it’ll come to late for the bulk of its readership, Ollie Cromwell excepted.

Another Guardianista harridan envious of Boris’s vastly superior skills as a columnist and the commensurate £250,000 he pulls in for knocking out agenda-setting polemics in between chasing pretty skirt.
I wouldn’t be surprised if he once turned down some dreary wimmin’s prose she submitted when he was editor of the Spectator.
Or looking at her photograph showed zero interest in tupping her.
Boris has always been the bete noire of the sandalistas especially now their poster boy Sadiq Khan has turned parts of London into killing zones.

      1. Freedom

Apart from the personalized comments though FWIW the tides soundly wouldn’t take Boris’ other conquests out either – invalidating your point – but I digress – I do agree with your analysis.

The guardian’s woman- hating columnist is quite skewed. She appears to resent the fact that Boris has a clearly ample and fulfilling love life and actually questioning how he has the time for it? The time? He’s a highly successful and well paid prominent public persona. Who needs time when you’re famous and have lots of money? Isn’t Boris simply showing that some women love to screw rich, famous and witty guys?

” hair bird’s-nested all over the place, f*”k-me shoes and three fat inches of cleavage.”
          Germaine Greer’s description of Moore.
Envy is writ large in her piece – perhaps because she only got a degree in ” cultural studies ” from Middlesex Polytechnic.
Or the only time she stood for Parliament she only got 0.6% of the vote and lost her deposit.
Whatever your take on Boris he’s a gifted columnist who can knock out headline-grabbing pieces at the drop of a hat – it’s why he’s paid the big bobs.

May doesn’t have a border plan. The tea boy is throwing tantrums about the backstop which sees NI remain in the customs union and the customs border placed in the Irish Sea.

Never forget that Johnson was an insider but couldn’t come up with a workable border solution so he ran away. His sniping from the sidelines just highlights his utter failure to do any better.

          2. Brother Barnabas

or an insider with significant influence who gave a big fat thumbs-up to the chequers plan on a friday, only to chuck his toys out of his pram about it 48 hours later

that’s all anyone needs to know about big bumbling boris

  2. Giggidygoo

Shane Ross vehemently chasing the elderly vote comes up with another half baked idea.. Kite flying. He must be under pressure. Any sign of that Garda Station re-opening? A month before the election perhaps.
( no sign of Harpo’s Cath Lab either.)

Sweden’s liberal dream died last night – political deadlock after the far right SD party secured 17.6% of the vote.
The pigeons of Europe’s open door immigration policy coming home to roost.

    1. ReproButina

Sweden’s mainstream political parties realised too late that not all refugees are angels and some come from countries where anti-semitism and oppression of women is the norm. Much of the vote for the neo-nazis is a protest vote, rather than a move toward the hard right. If there’s a lesson to be learned here it’s that politicians should stop denying the obvious truth and deal with issues instead of pretending they don’t exist.

      1. Nigel

It’s difficult to deal rationally with the problems associated with influxes of immigrants and refugees while hard right racists like Ollie are stoking fears and resentment and hysteria for their own political ends

        1. ReproButina

Admitting there is a problem and that refugees need to have cultural differences laid out to them would be a start.

Friends of mine in Germany are becoming increasingly frustrated with the government there refusing to grasp the nettle.

          1. ReproButina

It is worth pointing out that, despite what some commentators would claim, neither Sweden nor Germany have open door policies and both have tightened the asylum process in recent years.

          2. Nigel

Blatant lies like this are taken at face value, only corrected much later, if at all, so who is putting out the narrative that governments are refusing to deal with or even acknowledge these problems?

          3. Ollie Cromwell

Do you know ReproButina we’re actually agreeing on something at last.

You can either do one of two things over immigration – stamp your feet and sqweam waycist like predictable Nigel or accept the fact that a massive influx of mostly young men from countries with radically different social, religious and moral is going to cause significant problems.

Sweden’s easy-going liberal attitudes have been transformed by mass immigration – criminality and violence among immigrant gangs has soared.

Anyone who thinks trying to absorb hundreds of thousands of mainly uneducated young men from the African sub-continent,Syria and Afghanistan into liberal Western society is going to by part of life’s rich multi-cultural tapestry is deluded.

            Like Nigel.

          4. Nigel

But I agree too, Ollie! The worst problem caused by immigration, particularly in the wake of a global economic crash, is the rise of far-right racists and cynical demagogues who will capitalise and magnify and inflame xenophobic fears to wreck progressive and liberal societies. Like you’re doing now! Thanks for the demonstration!

          5. Ollie Cromwell

            Stop being such an imbecile.
The rise of the far right is the direct result of the failure to control immigration not immigration itself.
It is possible to believe in strict controls of who comes into your country without cretins like you instantly labelling people racists.
It’s what 17.4 million people voted for in the Brexit referendum
and it’s the border policy of most countries on the planet.

          6. Nigel

Immigration is controlled, but the world is also in the middle of a massive refugee crisis, sorry about that, it must be terrible for you.Asserting that immigration is uncontrolled is what lying far-right racists do. But if you’re not a racist then I’m not talking about you am I? Sorry, that’s the general ‘you.’ You, specifically, are a racist, and since you flaunt it all the time I don’t know why you have a problem with being labeled as such. Aren’t you using your edgy racism to prick our cosy Broadsheet bubble?

          7. Freedom

poor old Ollie is going to be lonely over in Sheffield with the remaining 23 Leave voters – an ever dwindling minority of losers and posh Tory boy twits. Indeed I sense a great deal of hostility here this morning from him, all that cheap plonk will give an awful experience next morning.

Won’t be cheap much longer though eh when the old trade tariffs kick in? Eh? Roger me sideways

After I take it via the back door

          8. Clampers Outside!

            Chicken and egg for Nigel….

Which came first, the idiotic Leftist policies on immigration and refugees coupled with the light touch of the law with regard to rape and other sex crimes when they arrived.

            Or

The rise of far right parties from tiny support to the figures we see today..

            – – –

Clearly, from your points above, you believe it was the latter which makes you a deluded fool.

Anyone with half an eye on that country over the last decade can clearly see it was the policies. Policies that the like of you cheerleaded, and defended by calling anyone who disagreed a racist/altright/nazi.

            – – –

And still today you are at it with this… “who is putting out the narrative that governments are refusing to deal with or even acknowledge these problems?”

It is not a narrative, it is a demonstrable fact. First they hid the statistics on immigrant crime; then there were the whistleblower police officers; the grenade attacks in Malmo; the no go zomes which you even claimed on here were made up; the light touch of sexual assaulters because of the light treatment of immigrants who “dont know any better” because it is their culture; and yet at the same time claiming all cultures are equal…. put a sock in it Nigel.

It’s not a narrative, it’s a factual thread of in formation, and policies that muppets like you have vocally supported, and mobbed anyone who spoke against it.

Narrative me hoop! It’s the Swedish governments own stupidity as demonstrated in their running of the country and handling of immigrant criminals that show they have done nothing of worth for the problem.

That is what gave rise to the far right. Anyone claiming anything else is deluded, and that is a fact.

          9. Nigel

Whatever came first it’s the torrent of lies exaggeration and fearmongering from the right which if anything impede the implementation of sensible policies to deal with problems within immigrant communities. It isn’t as if we haven’t seen all this before and heard your type of fearmongering and apologism either. Immigrant communities might be full of problems, especially if there is poverty and no proper policing. But it’s he riise of the right that will actually feck everything up.

          10. Clampers Outside!

” it’s the torrent of lies exaggeration and fearmongering from the right which if anything impede the implementation of sensible policies to deal with problems within immigrant communities. ”

Nonsense, the right didn’t have the weight of support to impede anything when those policies were being operated at their fullest – grown men classed as children and teens. It was only after when the damage was done, have the right gained any support worth any weight.

” heard your type of fearmongering and apologism either. ” – What fearmongering? I have on here stated years ago that this was a problem. Now the problem is recognised by the people, and they protest the policies that they see caused the damage by voting for the right wing parties.
            I ask again… what fearmongering?

            – – –
“It isn’t as if we haven’t seen all this before and heard your type of fearmongering and apologism either.”

Seen what exactly before… what are you trying to associate me with Nigel? Seen what…

Burying ones head in the sand and calling the like of a me a fearmonger does not excuse the Leftists in power from doing a stupendously disastrous job on immigration policy.
This is the second accusation of fearmongering – Again I ask, what am I supposedly fearmongering?

“Apologism” – for what? That’s laughable nonsense. What, in that deluded head of denial of yours, do you think I’m apologizing for?
I look forward to hearing it, should be as mad as the rest of your nonsense.

            – – –
“Immigrant communities might be full of problems, especially if there is poverty and no proper policing.”
…because of the inept Leftist policies on immigration ya numpty. Blaming anything else is ridiculous and nothing but a deflection from the truth.

” But it’s he riise of the right that will actually feck everything up. ” – It’s already fecked up ya twit, by the Leftists and their stupid ignorant virtue signalling policies. It needs to be fixed.

            – – – –

The people of Europe, have for years, and very well known to Europe’s politicians, have wanted a halt to the refugee crisis and/or poor immigration policies but Europe’s Leftist politicians ignored the people.
The people got fed up, and turned to the right. That is a fact that can be found easily in research of European attitudes going back years, and is well known through out Europe that the people of Europe were ignored.

          11. Nigel

So as the right lie and riot you’re busy blaming the left and immigrants and refugees. You think the right are going to implement the kind of sensible immigration reform you can really get behind?

          12. Clampers Outside!

Classic Nigel there… so what you’re saying is…

“So as the right lie and riot you’re busy blaming the left and immigrants and refugees. You think the right are going to implement the kind of sensible immigration reform you can really get behind?”

The Left gave the policies that created the problem. The Left lied about the problems and actively hid statistics on crime and other social ills created by their policies.
The right is only getting weight behind it now, so yeah, I dont blame those who were not in a position to create the problem. I blame those who were in a position to do something about it.

Blaming the Right now, for the disastrous policies of the Left is beyond stupid.

This deserves more attention – “You think the right are going to implement the kind of sensible immigration reform you can really get behind?”
Seriously? Where did you pull that assumption out of… hilarious nonsense that I never said at any point in time. Just because someone can recognise the abject failure and mismanagement of the incumbent Left does not mean that one supports the Right you ignorant silly billy.

          13. SOQ

@ Clampers/Oille. There is no real immigration problem in Sweden, just the perception of one. Living standards are just as high as ever and most people are not even impacted by immigration but that is the rub isn’t it? The fear is being stoked mainly in places where there is no arabs or black or whatever you are having yourself.

Take a good hard look at yourself m8. You have worked in advertising for over twenty years and clearly never took the boat to England in the eighties. WE were the immigrants. You don’t know what it was like to sleep 10 in a room in a north London kip while doing the sites. You have no idea what it is like to be poor, really poor, no food and not even a single bed to yourself.

          14. Clampers Outside!

@SOQ… that is completely deluded nonsense. There is a huge immigration problem in Sweden and much of it related to crime.

Even their Scandanavian neighbours Norway and Denmark have noted it…
Norway – “Norwegians commonly use the phrase “Swedish conditions” to describe crime and social unrest.”
Denmark – ” The view from Denmark was made clear when former President of NATO and Danish Prime Minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen said in an interview on Swedish TV: “I often use Sweden as a deterring example.”

            Not to mention that….
            All sex crimes – up
Rapes – up (not due to re-classifications)
            Muggings – up
Grenade Attacks – up from 0
Automatic Weapons crimes – up from near 0
            Gang Violence – skyrocketing
All violent crime – up (while their neighbours are seeing declines)
            Murder – up

            – – – –

Some links, just one to start (to avoid going into moderation):
“Gang-related gun murders, now mainly a phenomenon among men with immigrant backgrounds in the country’s parallel societies, increased from 4 per year in the early 1990s to around 40 last year. ”
            Politico – https://www.politico.eu/article/sweden-bombings-grenade-attacks-violent-reality-undoing-peaceful-self-image-law-and-order/

          15. Clampers Outside!

@SOQ – NY Times – Hand Grenades and Gang Violence Rattle Sweden’s Middle Class
“Weapons from a faraway, long-ago war are flowing into immigrant neighborhoods here, puncturing Swedes’ sense of confidence and security. The country’s murder rate remains low, by American standards, and violent crime is stable or dropping in many places. But gang-related assaults and shootings are becoming more frequent, and the number of neighborhoods categorized by the police as “marred by crime, social unrest and insecurity” is rising.”
            https://www.nytimes.com/2018/03/03/world/europe/sweden-crime-immigration-hand-grenades.html

          16. Clampers Outside!

@SOQ… no immirant problem… yeah, suuuuuure there isn’t. Tell that to the women, boys and girls, kids, that have been raped to date, and tell their fathers and mothers its all blown out of proportion and is no big deal as you most definitely are suggesting.
Tell them that their own government who stopped reporting immigrant crime when they saw how fast it was climbing is really nothing to be concerned about.

Cop on! Sweden’s ridiculous immigration of refugees without proper screening has resulted in big problems for Sweden.
And I’m so glad that none of this ridiculously stupid emotional approach to immigration policy was done here… we would be completely fupped!

            – – –

Even the Swedish Government own websites reports on the increases:

            https://www.government.se/articles/2017/02/facts-about-migration-and-crime-in-sweden/
“Data from the Swedish Crime Survey shows that in terms of lethal violence, there has generally been a downward trend over the past 25 years. Nonetheless, the level in 2015 – when a total of 112 cases of lethal violence were reported – was higher than for many years.
Studies conducted by the Swedish National Council for Crime Prevention show that lethal violence using firearms has increased within the context of criminal conflicts. The number of confirmed or suspected shootings was 20 per cent higher in 2014 than in 2006. The statistics also show that 17 people were killed with firearms in 2011, while the corresponding figure in 2015 was 33.”

Look at those last two stats…
20% higher gun crime in under ten years.
A doubling of numbers of people killed by firearms in 5 years.

Are you going to continue deny the problem… good luck to you with that, in fairness.

          17. Clampers Outside!

” What % of the Swedish population is now immigrant? And by that I mean within the past five years? ”

How about right now, today. 1.8m out of a pop of 10.2m – currently, and an unemployment rate of c.30% among the immigrant pop.

          18. SOQ

Nobody is saying that when you import a bunch of young single men from another culture there will not be problems but when you have the likes of Farage and Trump having a go, you can be pretty certain there is an agenda at play.

Malmo, along with other urban centres in Sweden, has one of the highest levels of reported rapes in proportion to population in the EU, mainly due to the strictness of Swedish laws and how rape is recorded in the country.

The rate of reported rapes in Malmo has not dramatically risen in recent years and has in fact declined from its peak in 2010, BEFORE THE RECENT LARGE INCREASES IN REFUGEES.

            https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-39056786

I will agree with you on the left screaming racism at every chance but seriously m8, get a grip.

          19. Clampers Outside!

Play it down, like it is nothing. Malmo’s just one city, and that’s just one stat for that city.

Care to give stats on violent assault, gangs, use of firearms, automatic weapons, grenades, roaming gangs of youths, etc….. All up!

            – – –

And the year after that BBC report, the trend was up again.
As this Local reports says one needs to be careful with the stats…
            https://www.thelocal.se/20170112/swedens-2016-crime-stats-analyzed

The truth is all crime is up, regardless of any reclassifications

          20. Clampers Outside!

The bugger is, all their neighbours are seeing all crimes going down, only Sweden is going up… one needn’t wonder for too long on the ‘why’, as it is known why – ridiculously poor refugee(70% male)/immigration screening.

          21. Clampers Outside!

(bump in road) compulsory integration classes – learn the language; learn the customs; learn Danish civics and laws – and they got called racists and Nazis for it by regressive Leftists and the MSM.

Why? In my opinion, because the regressive a have the stupid idea that all cultures are equal, even the ones that (sorry) would have you throw off a roof. That type nicety towards backward cultures is detrimental to the West in general. Islamic culture is far from equal to the West’s, that is a fact.

    1. Nigel

Her status as a successful woman entitles you to pass this summary judgement about her rather than interpret it charitably as her standing up for herself.

(I don’t know which is the case but oh boy did she get a target set on herself and oh boy did everyone obligingly line up to take their shots.)

      1. Clampers Outside!

She has made claims to be standing up for women, trying to turn it into a sexist thing. I have read numerous pieces by women over the weekend who have said Serena’s acting out and being a very very poor sports person. And many have shown how men have been treated similarly and worse. Her claim is grasping for justification for her actyions and an attempt to play victim… Bullshih.

But you being the forever ‘defender’ of all virtue signalling nonsense I’m not surprised you take this line.

Have a good day in your echo chamber.

        1. Nigel

Since you have decided that my take is the virtuous one you’re signalling that you think I’m in the right, which is a weird stance to take. Asserting that I’m in an echo chamber suggests you are not confident of the persuasiveness of you argument. And yet if you’d confined yourself to your first paragraph I might have simply agreed to disagree. Maybe you know more about childish strops than Williams does..

          1. Clampers Outside!

            Virtue signalling =/= Virtuous.

That’s why it is called ‘signalling’. It’s an empty gesture.

The fact you think it does, only goes further in helping explain your deluded position.

          2. Nigel

So I’m being virtuous but it doesn’t count for reasons you haven’t explained. Maybe you’re mindreading now?

          3. Clampers Outside

Ah stop, u said it yourself when you were doing your own “mindreading” (which is really just you on your usual “so what you’re saying” buzz) when you said…

….. “you have decided that my take is the virtuous one”.

Thanks for playing, nite nite :)

        1. Nigel

Maybe she’s speaking directly from experience that you are unwilling to give credence to for reasons of your own, but she’s certainly more of an authority on the sexism she has endured than you are.

          1. Clampers Outside!

No, see the press conference, she’s speaking of that game, and only that. Stop making crap up, and watch it.

The claim of sexism itself is grasping when you look at the history of the game.

          2. Cian

            Damn right tennis is sexist.
Same prizemoney for men and women, but the women only do 2/3rds the work.

But discrimination against men doesn’t count.

          3. Clampers Outside!

NIgel, I took my lead from a number of female commentatros. But hey, you go and make spurious claims to try and make me appear as some bad guy when you have no argument. It’s your bread and butter, and it’s pathetic pet.

          4. Nigel

The odd thing is I haven’t made any claims other than finding your dismissal of the idea that a female tennis player might have experienced sexism fairly typical.

        2. Frilly Keane

Its not a claim when it is a fact Clamps

and your language there is shameful
          showboating for victim points

who da’ púc do you think got the Grand Slams to come up to equal winnings ffs
hint; t’wasn’t any of the lads in the game

and guess wha’ 10 years well over two thirds of ’em still earn more than ladies with the same rankings from the Tournament circuits

          now that’s pathetic

          seriously Clamps get over it

if t’was one of the lads arguing with the Umpire you wouldn’t have opened your trap here this morning about it

          1. rotide

I think you’ll find there’s a very long line of men who argue vociferisly with umpires and not a single one of them blamed sexism for their petulant outbursts.

          2. Ollie Cromwell

If Serena Clinton really is that keen on women being treated as equally as men she’d insist on playing five sets instead of three.
It’s like that ” comedian ” troll Sandi Toksvig complaining about only being paid 40% of Stephen Fry’s salary to present QI.
Quite apart from only being 40% of his height she has 10% of his talent and even less of his humour.
            I’ve seen funnier unflushed toilets.

          3. Clampers Outside!

No Frilly, I have no problem as I said with a player arguing with an umpire.

It is the ridiculousness of her press conference and her claims in it that I have commented on, nothing else. And those claims are claptrap.

          4. Nigel

Ollie does love saying demeaning things about women! (That’s not me ‘virtue-signalling’ by the way that’s me ‘stating the obvious.’)

          5. rotide

She was given a warning. Ignored it
Given a point deducted. Ignored it.
Given a game deducted. Lost the match, continued to ignore it.

It’s not like the umpire jumped down off the seat after the first serve screaming IT BLEEDS, BURN THE WITCH.

You can make whatever case you want for the initial warning (seems like this sort of thing happens all the time and doesn’t get noticed/punished) but the penalties were given in a proscribed fashion. Again, The umpire should take some responsibility for being goaded into it but under the law, the penalties were warrented.

          6. Clampers Outside!

Absolute deluded nonsense Frilly. Her sexism claims had nothing to do with her being treated differently. She was not treated differently. McEnroe got treated similarly for similar behaviour. If anything, it was consistent, not sexist.

        3. Freedom

          “Showboating for victim points”?
          “Pathetic”?

          Misguided maybe.
          But why such perjoratives?

Isn’t your own reaction more than hysterical?

          burn Serena the witch!

          1. Freedom

It could be just misguided and ill judged

Your reaction on the other hand is misanthropic and hate filled

          2. Clampers Outside!

LOL… You cry “hate” and “misanthropic” like a child when people disagree with you.
And you call me hysterical… *GUFFFFAW*

Dude, that’s just your deluded judgemental opinion man :)
            Pure comedy.

          3. Freedom

I’m afraid no one is laughing at your hate filled public meltdown and excoriation of one of the greatest female athletes of all time who just happened to take badly a defeat yesterday and overreacted a bit. But she had a lot at stake. She almost died last year and was chasing a record I believe. What’s your excuse for being a bell end?

          4. Freedom

When did you have your meltdown?
Well let’s see if I can piece it together

the words “Sweden” and “rape” seemed to be like trigger words that set you off initially. Rant after rant followed with Nigel like some sort of matador jerking your chain like a fledgling two year old bullock’s first day at the corrida.

Later when you got into the Serena Williams you were actively looking for a row with someone. It was just very sad to witness. You started off with some leading remark about Serena actively trolling other idiots like rotide and then after getting a few bites proceeded to turn your items of derision to other commentators who deigned to call attention to your high pitched screeches.

The meltdown was complete when you labeled me a “buffoon”. Not content with having a row with the usual fools who have nothing better to do with their useless lives like Snapchat-obsessed teens you then wrapped your speedos round what’s left of your clearly emasculated balls and tied them in a double knot with your onesie. Satisfied with your work now you demanded to know when your meltdown started.
That’s how we got to here

          5. Clampers Outside!

            This is just brilliant :)

” followed with Nigel like some sort of matador jerking your chain like a fledgling two year old bullock’s first day at the corrida.”
            – That line is hilarious. Never took you for one with a comedic streak.

” Later when you got into the Serena Williams you were actively looking for a row with someone. It was just very sad to witness. ”
            – Later? Where was I earlier, oh wait, there was no earlier because my first comment was about Serena. What is this other earlier tussle you imagined. It’s bound to be even more colourful than this one. Please do let me know when you dream it up, thanks.

” You started off with some leading remark about Serena actively trolling other idiots like rotide ”
            – Hey Rotide, when did I troll you today? I see Freedom claims I trolled you earlier, could you let me know what I gone done bad?

” and then after getting a few bites ”
            – Oh, and did you bite Rotide? Was it like a babies gumless bite because I don’t remember it, thanks again.

” proceeded to turn your items of derision to other commentators who deigned to call attention to your high pitched screeches. ”
            – You what now, I was scweaming, and scweaming? When was that now? Oh wait, you’re doing a Nigel, and projecting what your hypersensitive self interpreted as being what actually occurred. Well, that’s nothing new pet. You are entitled to your own interpretation no matter how far up your own hoop it was taken from.

” The meltdown was complete when you labeled me a “buffoon”. ”
            – More LOLs than I can muster for that one. Calling someone a ‘buffoon’ is a sign of someone having a meltdown… suuure it is…. *chuckles*

” Not content with having a row with the usual fools who have nothing better to do with their useless lives like Snapchat-obsessed teens you then wrapped your speedos round what’s left of your clearly emasculated balls and tied them in a double knot with your onesie. Satisfied with your work now you demanded to know when your meltdown started. ”
            – Colourful, I’ll give you that, but it could’ve flowed better. Now hang on, you’re the guy writing this screed calling me the “hysterical” one and you wrote that above… well awwwww… it’s OK pet, that’s too cute, your lack of self awareness is a joy. Dont change, ever… :) I look forward to your next “hysterical” understanding of what a ‘meltdown’ is…. thanks.

” That’s how we got to here ” – who is this we? You’re clearly not even in the same room, never mind anything else, ya buffoon.

            … oh no, I said it again….
*starts melting …into the seat with laughter*

          6. Freedom

            babies gumless bite? Nah

rotide’s toothless snark is more akin to being collided with by a blind fruitbat fleeing a slowly
decomposing rancid pile of recently cleared henhouse rooster excrement

    2. rotide

They were both to blame in that one.

Serena was out of order, she should have taken the warning on the chin but instead lost her head and started abusing the umpire. The umpire in turn should have handled things a lot better and got the match referee involved well before the game deduction.

What should have been an amazing night for sports with that japanese young wan beating her idol turned very sour thanks to Serena and the Umpire.

Blaming it all on sexism is deflection in the extreme. Serena has a very long track record when it comes to this and it’s never ever been about sexism. It’s been about her inability to keep her temper in check sometimes.

            I would
but he retired in 1992 (I think)
maybe a few non-tour events after that

Wimbledon only agreed equal pay in 2007

            so like
            different times
            different conditions
            different climate and expectations
            and a very different game

          2. Clampers Outside!

No. McEnroe’s treatment is absolutely comparable.

            – – –

The prize money is the same, the work done, ie, no. of sets played for that prize is not. So, it is not equal “pay” as you state, it is equal prize money.
But sticking with your choice of words, and calling it “pay”. The women now get ‘paid’ more than the men for less work. But if you want to take the line that they are paid the same, I’ll leave you to your delusion.

I’ll leave this here for your own perusal….
“But Wimbledon isn’t alone. In most tennis tournaments, men and women play the best of three sets, but in the Grand Slams of the Australian Open, the French Open, and the US Open, only the men are challenged to play best of five.” – https://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/wimbledon-2017-sexist-women-three-sets-tennis-players-championship-men-five-williams-murray-a7825086.html

            – – –

            “so like
different times – So? ..Your point?
different conditions – So? …and how does that make any difference?
different climate and expectations – So? …and how does that make any difference?
and a very different game” – No.

What have the first three points got to do with anything. They’re meaningless statements of nothing. Put some meat on those, they’re meaningless as they are.

            Tell us Clamps

            About the Women’s game then?

Knowing that the ladies tour and the ladies Champions of the same rankings weren’t within a sniff of the same pot from the same Tour, Same Sponsors and the same Grand Slams, didn’t exercise McEnroe or any lad in the game

So if you want ta’ measure the treatment of Serena Williams and her behaviour and her right to call out sexist behaviour
            versus
            *John McEnroe
Then get your lawns level first
And come onto court with clean hands

Btw It would be over 20 years from McEnroe’s retirement before equal pots in the Grand Slams started to feature

” Since you’re so intensely occupied by protecting lads rights against women exerting theirs ”

Please explain what that above is supposed to mean? An example will suffice, any example where I have made an effort to protect a mans right against a woman exerting hers. I look forward to it Frilly, thanks.

Wait… I’ll need this deciphered also “And exposing women who exploit certain norms and predisposed assumptions.”

And the next line “And not letting women who enjoy a quota privilege without any merit off” …English please Frilly.

” Where was all the outrage from all ov’ ye
An’ all those lads that were ranked up and under
            In and around McEnroe
Including the Umpires, Refs, Travelling Press Core, Tour Officials, Spectators and Sponsors
About the Women’s game then? ”
            – I really shouldn’t have to re-read three four times to figure out what you are trying to say, but that is gobbledygook.

” Knowing that the ladies tour and the ladies Champions of the same rankings weren’t within a sniff of the same pot from the same Tour, Same Sponsors and the same Grand Slams, didn’t exercise McEnroe or any lad in the game ”
            – Eh? Is this related to the previous or next point? What has it to do with anything I said.

” So if you want ta’ measure the treatment of Serena Williams and her behaviour and her right to call out sexist behaviour
            versus
            *John McEnroe
Then get your lawns level first
And come onto court with clean hands ”
            – Serena Williams didn’t play back when McEnroe did, what is your point? There was no sexism from the umpire and she lost because of her behaviour on court, simple as.

“Get over it” – Em…. get over what?

” There was nothing out’ve ye’re traps for decades
An’ now ye’re never done reminding us we the ones getting one over on ye
An’ ye’re the ones not been treated fairly ”
            – Getting one over? What are you on about, what did you get over? Assuming you mean ‘women got one over men’, if thats what you mean, can you please explain what it is that was got over because I have no clue what you are ranting about here.

“Save yer tears for your pillow”
            – Who’s crying? What are you on about?

” *The value of his max fine which is being measured about the place t’day in today’s money was for 3 charges ” I didn’t see this but… so? Is there a point?

To be honest Frilly, that took too long to read, try to comprehend, and respond to.

          5. Nigel

I know I’ve tried it myself a few times but this lengthy multiple quote and reply format doesn’t really work in this commenting system. It’s unreadable.

No It’s another way women are treated as weaker, inferior and lacking agency. That men are treated worse in this instance is a hallmark of the patriarchy, which is often also bad for men.

    The latest Brexit news.
Anglo-Dutch giant RELX has decided to move its headquarters to London… despite Brexit. Worth around £33bn, RELX is the parent company of a number of publishers including Elsevier, Reed, LexisNexis and MLex. RELX had a dual corporate structure based in the UK and the Netherlands but has decided to move its HQ entirely to London, unlike Unilever who went the other way after successfully lobbying the Dutch Government for tax incentives.

It comes as the OBR announced that three-month GDP growth to July has shot back up to 0.6%, after the Beasts from the East put a damper on growth in the early part of 2018.

Straining his handbag-pug face into a purple Eton mess each Monday morning, Watermelon temporarily blocks the U-bend of the British news bog with his latest stinking offering, before standing next to the bowl, and gesturing at his produce, like a delighted toddler expecting parental praise for his mastery of basic bowel functions.
