I am reminded more and more of JG Ballard’s short story “Billennium”, wherein the legal maximum for accommodation is 38sq ft.

A simple enforced fixed price per m2 and minimum m2 as living space would solve this disgusting greed and profiting of the most vulnérable in society would fix this pronto

There ought to be a section at each relevant city hall dedicated to this alone to deal with abuse of said regulations resulting in fines to owners ( hefty) and retribution to victims of any said rentals after new laws in place.
Also a fine per m2 per rental for any Airbnb surpassing number of rentals quota a year. Also no Airbnb on a second property that is not registered as a primary residence.

Youve been reading my mail janet. In my book EVERY rental should be done through the local authority, from bedsit to mansion. If there was only one vehicle for rent payment, including air b n b, youd cut this nonsense out handy enough

Daft is an absolute joke – there’s no option to report an ad based on the fact that the property doesn’t meet minimum standards. But as long as they get their money they don’t care. Typical!
