A plan to build 3,500 social homes has delivered fifteen. From left: Minister for Housing Eoghan Murphy, Taoiseach Leo Varadkar and Minister for Finance Paschal Donohoe

The best of the Fine Gael team
Came up with a new housing scheme
I’m sure that they mean
To build more than fifteen
But for now it’s still just a pipe dream

The ‘housing crisis’ cannot be fixed.
If Eoghan Murphy were to acquire a load of state land let’s say the Central Mental Home in Dundrum Windy Arbour. Build 1000 houses and sell them for 200,000 a piece it would overnight send everyone that aided the ‘recovery’ by buying property in that area at 2 or 3 or 4 times that figure into massive negative equity. Thus undoing the ‘recovery’.
That’s the real reason there’s no appetite to solve the problem and with Fine Gael there never will be.
