The Leprechaun economics is alive and well. Suddenly there’s an ‘unexpected’ €1bn coming in due to changes in EU tax.
Well, woweee!. So neither our Revenue Commissioners nor the Dept. of Finance, nor Daffy knew that this was coming?
Does Daffy and Co. honestly think the electorate believe him?

This would suggest a sea border is on the cards and May is expecting the DUP to withdraw support. Labour membership is solidly remain however and if it doesn’t pass the tests laid down then they would be putting their necks on the line by voting for it. Pretty weak position to be in if you are appealing to the opposition for support, especially when they are after your job.

Given that the Brexit support is around 50/50 these days, it is extraordinary times for sure.

    1. ReproButina

It was inevitable. Now that they’re finished grandstanding at the party conference they can get back to the reality which, as they haven’t been able to come up with a better option that’s acceptable to the EU27, is the border in the Irish Sea or no deal.

Sweet Jesus what on earth did I just read in the Independent??!!! As in the rape attack in Antrim. I actually had to sit down when I read the headline. It’s not often that some story or other destabilises me in such a fashion.

I’m a very moderate person and don’t support the death penalty, but it’s this sort of stuff that makes me think that a Game of Thrones like public execution is the only option for this monster.

    Jesus.

    1. millie st murderlark

Read about that on my way home from work yesterday. Or tried to.

I actually wasn’t able to finish reading it then. Honestly one of the most horrific things I’ve read in the news. Some people are truly monsters.

That must have been the father, who else would have got access to a two week old baby like that. There really are some mentally disturbed individuals out there.

  4. Ollie Cromwell

Looks like this has been a good week for the Donald.
A new trade deal and Brett Kavanaugh’s Supreme Court appointment likely to go through.
The liberal US media will be like angry wasps in a jam jar.
    Good times.

    1. MaryLou's ArmaLite

sexual predators, get the fupp off, some people want to believe all republicans are perverts and all women are honest

..in case any confusion I was referring to that irony challenged dope, that pollutes this place with anti SF propaganda daily and can’t see the idiocy in his/her comment…

US unemployment rate down to 3.7%, the lowest since 1969.
    Wall Street booming.
Just in time for the mid-terms.

      1. Ollie Cromwell

Certainly if the economy continues to boom.
Even unemployment amongst blacks is at a record low.
Voters vote with their pickets not their heart but the mid-terms will give us a clue as to what lies ahead.
The Democrats have spent two years saying we wuz robbed and Hillary really was the most popular choice instead of trying to work out why Trump won and how they can fight back in the next election.
Droning on about a TV clip from decades ago when he boasted of grabbing ’em by the gee when it’s just standard locker room bantz the world over.
And not everyone was taken in Blasey Ford’s carefully stage-managed character assassination of Kavanaugh.

      2. Nigel

Well, sure, I mean, is that the same way the economy is doing so well here you and Ollie will be voting FG next time round?

i doubt he cares too much about reaping political benefits when he’s reaping the financial benefits to the extent he is – last year’s $60 million 5-book deal will bolster his $40 million net worth nicely.

          1. Ollie Cromwell

I suppose it saves him the bother of hawking his influence around dodgy ex-Soviet states and questionable African despots like Bill Clinton.

    1. realPolithicks

You’re delusional as usual, the repubicans will take such a hammering on November 6th that they’ll be the ones looking to get rid of trump. He’s given them their big tax break for the ultra wealthy and packed the supreme court with like minded thugs, they don’t need him anymore. He’s a dead man walking.

      1. Why it’s so hard

I’m not sure they will Real

Apparently the Kavanaugh thing has energized their base, the question now is if they stay focused long enough until the election what with all the meths, energy drinks and junk food they imbibe

Meanwhile though Dem engagement is also low among certain groups such as millennials
I read it as base v base and don’t see Dems capturing all the houses

        1. realPolithicks

I don’t think they will take the senate but the house is definitely up for grab. The damage is done at this point anyway, the supreme court is packed with republican thugs and will be for a generation. Whatever happens to the orange gnome is almost a moot point at this stage.

          1. Why it’s so hard

Yeah call me naive but I was genuinely horrified at how corrupt and political the whole process has become of late. Doesn’t bode well

          2. MaryLou's ArmaLite

you can be damn sure the next liberal appointment to the Supreme Court will go through the same poo show.

        2. Johnny

What’s the basis for your sweeping and grandiose claim that engagement is low – a hunch ?
          Compared to ….

        1. Ollie Cromwell

Except I didn’t call anyone stupid.
Which makes you look as thick as the back of a bull’s ball sack.

  6. Dub Spot

Is is just me or has McCririck turned into Shane Ross? He should stepaside.

Oh, and your majesty – 1992 called. Boy George wants his hat back. Try that perfectly decent milliner from Galway – Philip Treacy.

          1. SOQ

Mainly because the go go trannys are imported from England, north England obviously.

Scotland is a bit cold for that sort of thing and Wales has no idea if it is talking from it’s ass or it’s elbow right now.

        1. Bertie Blenkinsop

          Absolutely.
I don’t revel in the misfortune of other teams.
I just focus on the things I Love…
Liverpool, the Dubs and yours truly.

(No opportunity to remind you ever knowingly missed)

          :)

          1. millie st murderlark

Only one a month, I’m afraid. We hold a raffle in the gaa club on the last Tuesday of every month. There’s tea and cake and everyone’s welcome.

Your balls are for earrings love. Do not present yourself under half a dozen or more names on this site without consideration for who owns the platform upon it sits.

          1. SOQ

            Shake? Hands only.

Lose the academic bullpoo btw. Most in Ireland can’t afford accommodation to even start a basic third level education let alone fight with old skool hairy lesbians at fifth.

Edit: Nothing wrong with hairy lesbians except they have an annoying habit of sneering and one-upmanship, a bit like the right wing trolls on Broadsheet.

    1. Why it’s so hard

One person who shall remain nameless actually typed this in as comment today

“When someone gets on a soap box on an issue one dose not only get on soap boxes over only ones they detest
Its called hypocrisy which is my pet hate”

      And there was more

  7. Steph Pinker

I’ve no idea what, how, or why the comment section has become what it is, even though the essence of the site itself hasn’t changed, but, it is no fun to visit anymore, and more importantly, I have no idea how it can be improved because it’s obvious there are individuals who like to troll/ dominate, and say a lot, but contribute very little.

It really is a pity, because the personalities and minds behind the concept of BS have so much potential and integrity which has been proven through their investigative and research capability.

    1. Janet, I ate my avatar

      well said Steph,
I have said this over and over,
people don’t come to leave feeling dirty,
this meanness that prevails is NOT entertainment or even productive to the development of ideas or debate,
it’s predictable boring and so destructive,
wise up BS this place is becoming a shadow of itself.

      1. bertie blenkinsop

        Agree wholeheartedly.
And it’s the same few who are responsible for polluting the site.
