even better, why doesn’t the backstop cover the whole of europe and we can all stop this nonsense?

    1. realPolithicks

That’s alienist, why shouldn’t our martian and venusian friends and colleagues be included.

      1. scottser

indeed. we could go full borg and insist that every single lifeform in the universe is assimilated to the ‘backstop’

on the face of it, seems to be yet another historically-illiterate, stupid idea… but kate might be on to something: how about take it even further and go for a backstop around the entire EU 26?

Well, the timestamp seems to be from 4am this morning, so perhaps we can charitably attribute this to overdoing it a bit at the sherry.

Kate Hoey, Lambeth. 78.6% voted for remain. Too busy off on boats with Farage to listen to the people she ‘represents’.

17.4 million is who she represents, old cock.
Blighty is not like Ireland where a strutting French martinet can frighten a whole country into voting the ” right ” way in a second referendum.
2nd October 2009.A day of infamy in the Republic.
The day Ireland’s pride died of shame.

Someone was reading the Express (admittedly my favorite Brit news source) this morning…

It’s true, Blighty’s not like Ireland. Unlike Ireland, which will still have a say on future EU trade deals and standards, Blighty’s going to find itself bending over for the strutting French martinet and caving on every single red line in order to preserve their economy. An extended transition period to allow them hack together some sort of trade deal may sound like something but it’s meaningless as the UK will have no cards to play once March 29th passes.

        Tick tock, Sasamach!

“Blighty is not like Ireland where a strutting French martinet can frighten a whole country into voting the ” right ” way in a second referendum.” Would that be the time that Ireland, as a member of the EU, was successfully able to renegotiate the treaty following a failed referendum, including allowances specific to Ireland thus addressing the concerns of the electorate?

          1. Ollie Cromwell

The 2nd Lisbon referendum was in 2009 you buffoons.
You’re quoting Sept 2018 unemployment figures as good news when an entire generation has been forced to leave Ireland to find work.
Dumb and Dumber at work again.

          2. ReproButina

“There’s only low unemployment because everyone emigrated”, said the Sasamach cheerleading racist idiot before continuing “and there’s no houses because of all the immigrants flooding the country”.

    regarding blissful pig ignorance…

I lived in deepest Essex from 1989-1995…a time when the troubles was front & centre on the BBC news every night & bombings were also actually happening just 60 mile away.

The people there always treated very well and accepted me, even when we went out on the beer in a certain town where it was mostly squaddies…maybe I was a bit of a novelty to them a bit exotic I suppose. That was one thing that amazed me about that time.

The other thing was the complete &
utter lack of knowledge of Ireland’s blood politics & history..even back then with it playing out in live technicolour for them they mostly were ignorant of it. I’d be regularly queried on “the bombings and violence that there must be in Dublin” as if it was a Beirut (or Belfast)…Ireland was a distant mythical province to most of them.

    My point is this:
even in THAT time middle englanders had very little subjectmatter expertise about Ireland….may as well have been Hawaii. Nice people generally but utterly clueless about anything north or west of Birmingham.

Today in 2018 we have a sharp intake of breath now on a nearly daily basis because some (Tory usually) buffoon says a pig ignorant thing about us and Brexit.

It amazes me that anyone is surprised.

I can tell ye all one thing for a fact. We are all about to lose & lose hard. That blissful pig ignorance is going to hurt us all now. But don’t be surprised.

Maybe Ireland should print “WE’RE NOT A FUPPING COLONY” on all their Brexit negotiation documents. The Brits keep forgetting that.

    1. SOQ

Because the owners approve. Apparently this guardian angel is disseminating some sort of wisdom that we are incapable of seeing all by ourselves.

    2. Bertie Blenkinsop

Because we foolishly give him the attention he so desperately craves.

Either that or he is one of the Moderators.

I never reply directly to it for that exact reason, and tend to skip reading it’s comments too, but even so, I frequently click onto a thread with many comments, realise it’s entirely dominated with that tedious crap, then go to the journal cos it’s less troll infested, which is a saddening turn of events.

Pal of mine is fond of saying “It can be difficult to ignore Kate Hoey but it’s *really* worth the effort…”
