FT: May’s transition gambit draws fire from across the Brexit divide.
That headline could have been written at any time since the vote. She has four corners to please and they all want their own way. Brexiteers on one side and Labour or the other while in Ireland the DUP vs the rest of the island. And even after agreement with the EU it still had to get through the HP and probably a second referendum. Something has to give and my money s on the schedule. A no deal scenario is just not going to happen because it is nobody’s interests for it to.
It is worth keeping an eye on the demographics here. Champions of Brexit tend to be very rich and it seems to be accepted that the younger British people are, the more likely they are to be pro remain. The more time ticks on, the more the balance will tip towards remain, and that is not even considering those who have changed their minds.
100k at the People’s Vote march tomorrow? Depends on how successful the mobilisation will be but it could be a lot more than that.

Can we now refer to Naughten as the ‘Disgraced former FG TD’?
MaryLou's ArmaLite
why not go further refer to Sinn Fein as ‘the disgraced terrorist supporters’
Giggidygoo
The default ‘look over there’ reply. I see Noonans mug now showing up in this debacle.
Brother Barnabas
isn’t that assumed when you’re referring to a FG/FF TD?
Rob_G
I see Margaret Cash is in trouble with the law again, for stealing clothes this time.
Dearie me – 38 previous convictions; I do hope that the housing protestors will now stop wheeling her out as some sort of exemplar of the housing crisis now.
martco
what do you think @Rob_G….should we execute her now & proceed to shutdown social housing?
Rob_G
No, but when I suggested that, if someone ended up sleeping in a Garda station, it might not be the fault of ‘da gubbermint’ and that maybe people had to take responsibility for their own lives, people were lining to defend this lady as a great mother to her children.
I think that, if I was a young worker at a housing protest because I couldn’t afford to rent a flat, and then this person was called up to the podium as someone supposedly in the same boat, I would be disgusted.
MaryLou's ArmaLite
She used the media to bring attention to her situation, sections of the media and the homeless charities used her story attack the government, they portrayed her as the victim. She is the recipient of about €50k in social welfare and attacks the government and society for giving her nothing.
JunkFace
This is a sad reflection on how some people are gaming the system. Having children as a way to get more money from social welfare. As well as stealing from shops. Then using the 7 children as a battering ram with regards to housing lists, skipping the Q, and getting what she wants. Its a complex problem to solve, but if thousands do this, the strain on the system will crack. Where did she learn to do this? Maybe from her parents, most likely. Bad parenting culture creates this mess. Looking for hand outs instead of working. Some people on these waiting lists are honest and hard working parents, what about them?
Kirkbadaz
37 of her previous convictions were traffic offenses. A dangerous criminal. You’re rightly terrified of her.
Rob_G
Oh, well that makes it alright, then…
If she’s only been driving 10ish years and has already racked up 37 RTAs, then yes, I would be scared to encounter her on the road.
Bertie Blenkinsop
If David Beckham wants me to take Victoria off his hands I’d be more than happy to oblige.
millie st murderlark
Make sure she eats something, will you??
ReproButina
Ah Millie, that’s just too easy.
millie st murderlark
It’s more that I get off on feeding people.
SOQ
She eats every other Wednesday whether she needs to or not?
Ollie Cromwell
Is this the grown-ups speaking ….?
Brother Barnabas
not enough racism or homophobia?
Ollie Cromwell
It certainly doesn’t have the necrophilia you like.
Brother Barnabas

Brother Barnabas
is confiding in a national newspaper that you find your wife to be a bit a moany, whinging pain in the hole a good thing to do?

More of it I say.

“anything interesting in the paper today, love? like maybe on page 4?”
Given recent history I think I’d trust the judgement of a German bank over that of an Irish one.
Especially as Ireland is picking up the bill for them.
One very big bill.
That will take decades to pay off.
Jawohl begorrah.

Nobody cares what you think.

Except you who has replied.
I’d say you can’t spell irony even if you knew what it meant.

deutsche bank is toxic, but you go ahead ollie – i believe those deck chairs should go over there, maybe?
Deutsche Bank? Have you any idea why that particular bank is the laughing stock of the banking community?
Ollie Cromwell
I’ve heard they’re on the list of foreign bondholders that you so generously are helping to bail out with your taxes and which you’ll continue to pay for probably for the rest of your life.
Who is the laughing stock now ?
No,ve ask ze questions !
Kerching mein herr bejaysus.
Only the best supporters(of foreign banks) in the world.
Yep. We sure are paying their likes off. But you’ve quoted the head of that bank who, despite them in a no lose situation as regards Irish payments fell to junk status. Not a great source of economic mastery.

oh dear, charger
do you see it? need me to explain it?
you embarrass yourself with abject stupidity on occasion – stick to the cut-and-pasting from whatever tory-fanboy comics you subscribe to
Perhaps Ireland should declare a reverse ferret bank holiday every year whereby everyone goes into work on a day off and donates their wages to paying off the foreign bondholders.
It might just bring the end date back within this century.
Certainly it would be remiss not to say ” danke schön ” and ” Deutschland über alles ” every time you receive your wages or salary.
Marvellous stuff what ?
millie st murderlark
Are you feeling bored again? How about a nice game of Scrabble?
Papi
Mrs. Pinker, (i.e Nanny) took all the toys away cos charger keeps eating them, the fat eejit.

Extraordinary story about the girl awarded €550k after admitting falling off of Luas train while tram-surfing on the outside.
She was praised for her honesty and then given half a million euros.
