‘€280pm For Half A Double Bed With A Stranger’

Dublin Rental Investigator tweetz:

Bedshare for €280pm in Kimmage. That’s €280pm for half a double bed with a stranger. There is also another person in the room. Another has a room for themselves. You also have to pay €20 for bedlinen whether you need it or not.

Capitalism gone mad. It’s just disgraceful.
This country has gone to the dogs, one of my colleagues rents a bed in an 2 bed apartment with 8 other guys. the apartment next door has 12 residents…also a 2 bedroom. bunk beds stacked into them.
what the hell is going on?
I know that the political parties are committed to the notion of the market righting itself but this is crazy and is not sustainable form a FDI perspective either. what Multinational is going to relocate here with accommodation in this condition? I would not move to a country if I had to rent in these conditions.

Too many people in the Capital is one of the reasons. More companies need to be encouraged to open shop outside of the capital.

Ive said it before and it is logical to me, but why not start applying a levy on companies setting up with in the M50, and another one within the canals.

You mention canals. Ive never understood why our canals arent supporting a healthy sized barge community.

So there’s a market for the truly desperate. Imagine working and returning to that situation every evening. What a poxy, squalid, depressing existence that would be. Where would you find joy in your life?

I think the next step here is to interview the landlord and then the tenant(s) who agree to this lease. How the hell do either think this is acceptable? Genuinely intrigued.
