I’m not really 100% au fait with the conventions of Irish politics.
But I do find it slightly disconcerting that a Taoiseach is openly campaigning for one presidential candidate over all the others.
I’m happy to accept that I don’t really understand the realities and protocols of this but shouldn’t Varadkar rise above the fray in this instance ?
Or perhaps I’ve just got hold of the wrong end of the stick.
I’m happy to be enlightened by those who know better.

…easy Ollie…Leo is in coalition with a load of truculent indos and a bunch of FFers in the background who can’t decide if they are in government or oposition…he hankers after the days when Enda could call up labour with their dozens of TDs knowing that they would betray all their supporters and go native for a few ministries and nice pensions…they would embrace and front FGs campaign of austerity for the poor and champion water privatisation…FG have a dismal record in Presidential elections…Squee is labour in name but FG gene pool…

This is nothing new. The Taoiseach of the day has always campaigned for their party’s chosen candidate. Usually the entire party machine is kicked into action on the campaign trail but in this case it’s not necessary as the challengers are so pathetic.

He’s the.. status quo, establishment friendly, nothing to see here, stay in your box we’ll let you know if we need you, enjoy your twilight years, just focus on legacy now like a good little lad, keep doing the oratorical broadcasts from your Aras, maybe as an independent they’ll forget you were elected and represented by the labour party….. thank fupp it’s not going to be a SF/MEP candidate otherwise we’d have some real trouble to deal with, gotta stop the boat from rocking…. candidate.

Look he’s a good, honest, decent, intelligent man but he’s been next to useless at putting it up to the establishment while they take the piss with binary choice, polemic and fake civil war politics in this plutocratic sham of a pseudo-democracy…

He’s the epitomy of the labour party, he wants to break his promise, outstay his seven year welcome and apart from some good verbage and a game of thrones style swagger he’ll be remembered mostly for inviting the queen of britain and her obscene and inbred entourage over for dinner.

Either way he’ll survive and can still write poems while living comfortably off one of the three pensions he is legaly entitled to.

Varadkars stance has more to do with his fear of putting up a FG candidate as it would indicate exackly where him and his party are at in terms of real support.

PI have nothing against the fellow personally but didn’t he campaign last time on the pledge that he would only stand for a single term of office ?
Perhaps his obscene salary, five pensions (senator, cllr,TD,minister and lecturer ), and unaccountable expenses have given this lifelong socialist a taste for the high life.
There still hasn’t been a credible answer as to why he took a Lear jet to Belfast to be met by his car on arrival that had been driven up from Dublin.
The PSNI has poured scorn on the ” security ” argument so what exactly are the ” logistics ” he is talking about ?
I can see why Varadkar likes the cut of his jib.

He’s not claiming his pensions and would actually be better off financially were he claiming them instead of his presidential salary.

He’s serving out of a sense of duty then as its a sacrifice financially, people should be more grateful and all that…
Who knows what he claims,I don’t believe a word he says, been caught lying so many times, surprised you do.

    Surely
“The British #MeToo scandal that cannot be revealed”

Regardless, typical Daily Telegraph gentlemen’s club tut-tutting….

Today John Ryan is trying to sell me Simple Project Management Tools, Hair Transplants Abroad, and CCTV cameras. Oh and 125 Kinases for my Kinase-Inhibitor Studies. My secret is out so, I am actually a closet biochemist… but only at the weekends of course.

Even the term ‘browsing history’ isn’t quite as it seems because there is quite a difference between browsing and browser. My browser history is clear because i just loaded Chrome Canary after cleaning the old one completely off the machine.

The only other way such could be held is either if I am logged in to a gmail account (which I am not) or the profiling is being stored against a ghost account based on the IP number.

Of course they can still just fire random poo at you because each of those placeholders needs to be filled with something.

He left the farm to entertain the troops in Crimea with one of those drag shows the Brits find so hilarious.

Make up tips for girls (!), girls who want to meet older men, and visit Hong Kong. As confused as myself.

The Sunday Times has sacked Lynn Barber. Jeez. Would AA Gill get the chop too if he were still around. And they wonder why their readership is dropping like a stone.

The Irish Examiner story about School buildings failing regulations. Dear God! Do we have the worst builders and building standards compliance or what? Its like Fat Tony in that episode of the Simpsons.

Once again, Irish construction industry has been flagged for being substandard and or dangerous for use by people. Ireland has an appalling Construction record for being a first world country. And now we are racing against time to build new homes? Will they be found wanting over the next 5 to 10 years?

    1. :-Joe

.. If I’m not mistaken… did you notice dear leodar just announced it and then ended it with a sigh as if “ah shure there ye go, what can we do eh?”.

No mention of an immediate investigation, prosecuting the builders etc etc….
      – As per usual eh?!?!

I really think for future construction projects in Ireland that German and Scandinavian construction companies should be considered. Having lived in these countries I can say that their standards are far higher in every way. Also, they do not cheat with building materials shortcuts. They build exactly to the plans. They can also plan better.
