They’ve had the EU flag as a back drop for a song for the entire European leg of their tour.

Along with a load of “We don’t want you to leave”, “Stronger together” guff.
I’m sure a fair proportion of the crowd had voted for Brexit.
The flag was greeted with much cheering when it appeared at the Belfast gig.

That’d be the 2012 Nobel Prize winning European Union. As the judges saw it the “EU and its forerunners have for over six decades contributed to the advancement of peace and reconciliation, democracy and human rights in Europe”
The EU isn’t perfect but that’s a fair assessment.
I don’t recall the EU doing much during the Serbian conflict.It was the UN and NATO mostly.
And it was the EU’s meddling involvement in Ukraine which directly led to that crisis.
Likewise the EU’s role in ending the violence in NI was non-existent.British and Irish politicians helped by Bill Clinton brought that about.
This is all rose-tinted spectacles guff.
I think this is a reasoned assessment of the Yugoslav situation.

That beanie hat, and his sheer stubborn persistence with it, is now paying dividends for the edge. He’s avoided going down the ageing rocker in a ridiculous wig route, that is ubiquitous now. Bono remains, ridiculous.
Nice to see most of the crowd watching the gig with their eyes and not through their phones.

They’re the poor mans Simply Red.
It might have escaped your attention but not only have they been using the flag on screens for about 20 years, it also appeared on the front fping cover of an album. Hardly a new development here. Just added context for it.
Also, Zoo TV remains the greatest concert experience I’ve been to .

Oh god, the Spa was some joint after the pubs closed. They had to serve chicken and chips to get the late license.
