Lots of buildings are becoming end of life around town.

New pool being installed in old deptarmt of transport building on Kildare street

It won’t be touched for a few years. The Metro isn’t starting until 2021 (at the earliest) – if it ever happens

Build nothing anywhere at any time that might inconvenience anyone. No matter if it’s for the common good.
Meanwhile the city chokes in traffic.

Not that the Trots care. Maximum obstruction/chaos/dissatisfaction serves their purpose. Call Annette Mooney next time you’re sitting in your car in Pearse St for an hour.

The city desperately needs a functioning public transport system. Hard decisions have to be made sometimes and a functioning metro outweighs a local pool in terms of the public good.

The two are not mutually exclusive. There are derelict properties in the area including Apollo House.

If they want to demolish it they should be publishing their plan to replace it elsewhere and the replacement should be operational before demolition begins.

I agree all options should be explored. At the moment they want to locate the station where the line is planned to run, not a street over. There will be multiple properties/land that will have to be acquired for the metro – will we have petitions for all of them?

    Ah feck
    that’s not the original one
which was well dated anyway when I used it in the 90s
    That’s a rebuild
    and included a gym

    by the developer
    BTW
    Open to correction,
but Johnny Rohan/ Treasury springs to mind
    Johnny Hamptons would know

Treasury and Johnny bought all the sites around Tara st and have plans to build to the clouds while they will also redevelop the train station. They bought the sites from CIE.
