‘Callinan may face McCabe damages bill’ – hopefully this will be the case, and a lot more besides. On a related note, I tried to watch both episodes of McCabe’s story on the RTÉ Player tonight and, as usual it kept buffering, going back to the ads, freezing etc… I know it’s copyrighted, but is there any other service I can use to watch it – there probably isn’t, unless it’s uploaded to YT maybe, but I just thought I’d ask.

Yes, there is an alternative, Steph, the Sky Go app – if you have access to it. Twenty minutes into last night’s documentary, and similarly frustrated, I gave up on the RTE Player and switched to the Sky app – which allows you access to programmes on the home station. Surprise, surprise! I enjoyed an uninterrupted stream and watched the remainder of the programme without it buffering at all!

    Brexit D Day

Indefinite CU with exit date decided by The European Court of Human Rights is it? Or who?

Up to four resignations in government, DUP set to throw a huffy strop and multi millionaires like Johnston and Moggy shouting the usual tripe about ‘delivering Brexit’ from the sidelines.

    Popcorn anyone?

According to my favourite broadsheet, The Irish Times, the deal is about to be done over the NI/Irish back-stop. The interesting thing is that 68% of NI electorate voted to remain in the EU – the part of Europe most directly affected by Brexit. NI is not in government for a couple of years now – no change there? The most important issue, is a right to vote? The UK Government pretty much vetoed the popular vote – NI-@68% Remain, Scotland @99% Remain, London @99% Remain – Wales, they pretty much hate everyone, who aren’t Welsh.
I voted Labour back in the day, when it was Tony Blair – New Labour – how he disappointed.
I can’t vote anymore – it seems it doesn’t make a difference. Yes, it’ll be an island where I shall arise and go to…..

The Empire is about to be humbled. Brexit for GB will be like leaving the club but still having to obey the club’s rules.

Which isn’t new. Anyone trading with the EU has to agree to the EU rules and standards. All Sasamach does is give up a say on those rules and standards.

Keep your powder dry with all your “expert” predictions. This sucker has no chance of getting through the Commons.
The Brexit roller-coaster has only just left the first curve.

Shush,I’m too busy watching the cricket to swat you aside this morning.
Excellent last wicket knock by the lad Curran.

nice way to spend a dreary morning… good choice!

ps can a vassal state have its own international cricket team? asking for a friend

          1. Ollie Cromwell

Well Ireland has its own cricket team – albeit not a very good one – so I don’t see why not.

            Who cares about cricket..

Ireland has a very good rugby team (a real sport) England hasn’t got a good rugby team reflected by their current world ranking and 5th place showing in last year’s 6 nations..

          3. Ollie Cromwell

Ireland does indeed have a very good rugby team although it wasn’t on display last Saturday against the Argies.
Let’s see how you get on this weekend shall we ?
Rankings count for nothing in the white heat of world cups and Ireland has always been found wanting on the really big stage .
Perhaps this time might be different.

          4. jusayinlike

And while your at it, tell me how England faired in the last world cup, specifically against Wales and Australia who were ranked below them at the time?

          5. Ollie Cromwell

            Lots of questions.
            I just have one.
Can you tell me the last time Ireland progressed beyond the quarter final stage of a world cup ?

          6. jusayinlike

            zero answers..

            Fair enough..

England crashed out of their pool stage in a home world cup, succumbing to Australia and a laughable Wales.

They then came in 5th out of 6 in the annual six nations, while Ireland purred in a grand slam, on the back of demolishing the all blacks on foreign soil. The topping on the cake was leap frogging abysmal England into second place, England have since plummeted to 5th.

Meanwhile English premiership clubs have performed terribly particularly on the road. Their trips to Ireland resulted in 3 spectacular chasing’, particularly in Dublin where “high flying” London Wasps were given a bonus point hiding by Leinster, going home with a laughable 3 points for their disorganised efforts.

Similar gouging’ we’re handed out to Leister in Ulster and Gloucester in Munster. The sad thing is that this is not out of the ordinary, with similar results taking place last year and the year before.

To add insult to injury, a comparison of the wage bill at each of those clubs is truly eyebrow raising with Wasps wage bill standing at 5 million and Leinster sitting at a cool sustainable million.

Things aren’t looking good charger, I’d advise you stick to the panzy cricket, a sport which has no place in professional standards.

Kandy – absolutely gorgeous spot in Sri Lanka.
I’d recommend it for BS readers getting bored of Santa Ponsa.
Mind you it’s all kicking off down there politically at the moment.

There’s only one bar you can get a drink in Kandy and it’s the most touristic expensive unfriendly part of Sri Lanka compared to the rest of the country, lovey spot it’s not, unless you have a tooth fetish. One day Max recommended.

          2. Janet, I ate my avatar

and by one bar I mean a sad place catering to the English mainly, as it’s a sacred and dry town.

          3. bisted

…hah…game, set and match to Ollie (excuse the careless sporting metaphor)…but reminiscent of Nero fiddling while Rome burns…
