    “I cannot in good conscience”

He could do a lot in good conscience that isn’t if it suited him

    1. ReproButina

Yeah, one minute he’s just realising the ports are important and next he’s saying his conscience means he has to cause massive delays at the ports.

Vanessa, ok, can you tell me if this happened yesterday or a while back. Google is not my friend when I try “tony connolly interviewing rees mogg”

          1. ReproButina

I’ve seen a few people tweeting about JRM being annoyed that RTÉ were leaked the story before BBC. They weren’t, of course, but that’s the height of it.

Brings to mind that time when Harrison Ford was in the bus on his way to jail (he hadn’t done it), and the bus had a crash, and a train hit the bus and then the train had a crash.
It was a terrible mess, but HF escaped unhurt which is the main thing.

Listen up, ladies and gentlemen! Our deal has been on the table for 24 hours. Average resigning speed over uneven political ground, barring a hard exit, is 4 resignations an hour which gives us a resignation radius of 320 loyal MPs! What I want out of each and every one of you is a hard target search of every gas station, residence, warehouse, farmhouse, henhouse, outhouse and doghouse in Westminster. The back stop goes up at 15 miles out! Our fugitive’s name is Enough Votes To Get This Through Parliament . Go get ’em.

    2. SOQ

There will be no no deal. They will go back into negotiations with Labour because the chaos it would cause right across Europe is just not going to happen, ever.

      ” hurtling towards a no-deal exit
disastrous for britain and ireland ”

Even a stopped clock is right twice a day.Although I’m not sure some of the gibbering gerbils on here have much of a clue what you’re talking about.

” Irish stocks slumped the most in western Europe on Thursday amid mounting concern that the UK could crash out of the European Union without a deal.

While UK prime minister Theresa May has sealed an accord with the EU on the terms of Britain’s departure from the bloc, opposition in Westminster is growing with two UK cabinet ministers quitting on Thursday. The Iseq fell 2.2 per cent at lunchtime in Dublin, with Ryanair and Bank of Ireland each down about 5 per cent.

“The challenge of getting the deal passed through cabinet was one thing, but getting a majority vote in parliament is a different beast, as the numbers seemingly don’t add up to have the deal voted through,” Alexander Wilson, an analyst at Goodbody Stockbrokers in Dublin, wrote in a note.

The Republic is considered the European economy most vulnerable to Brexit, with about 15 percent of exports going to the UK. This week, insulation maker Kingspan said it’s monitoring a “general sense of nervousness prevailing globally.”

As well as concerns over the health of the British economy, sterling weakness hurts Irish companies, which make a large chunk of their earnings in pounds. “

        Meanwhile in #despiteSasamach news..
The Financial Conduct Authority said it was in regular contact with financial firms as shares in major banks tumbled on worries over future access to the EU market. – Shares in Royal Bank of Scotland were down 8.99 percent, their biggest one-day fall since the June 2016 referendum. Barclays and Lloyds Banking Group dropped 4.5 and 5.7 percent respectively. – Sterling tumbled 1.5 percent versus the dollar and was headed for its biggest drop this year against the euro.

did you see sammy wilson addressing may in the commons earlier today? tone of menace and threat: only short of ending it with a promise to get her knee-capped

          he seemed upset

          1. Brother Barnabas

if he doesn’t come back, we’re going to have to take turns manning his persona

everyone has to do a week with a minimum comment quota

        1. DeKloot

He was unsurprisingly quiet on this topic yesterday. Plenty to say on thongs, mind you. But not Brexit.

          Olly, Olly, oxen freeeeeeeee???!!!!

The Rats are deserting the sinking ship…..and will drown on the high seas.

Britannia rules the waves, nope – they’re all sea!

    1. Otis Blue

It’s like the last days of the Fianna Fáil Government in 2011; the one where the few remaining ministers that jumped ship held three or four ministerial portfolio’s each.

  3. Eoin

Junior brexit minister Suella Braverman resigns, that’s four of the 104 UK ministers.
Pound weakens by 1.6% against euro.
Theresa May will face vote of no confidence, she may win it at the first stage, but the lack of support means she’s gone. With her departure and given the precarious majority of the Tories, there’ll be a general election by January, which will return another hung parliament with the same divisions. The agreement yesterday is in tatters.
Ireland needs to up its preparations for a no-agreement Brexit.

    1. Andyourpointiswhatexactly?

I’m going to read that as Floella Benjamin as I’ve never heard of Suella Braverman.

When Maybot talks about “our United Kingdom” and maintaining it, it makes me gasp. The irony of it all. Imagine having foreigners harming the integrity of your country. I can’t either. Bye, bye May. Who is the next PM?

    1. Spaghetti Hoop

Well, there was a lot of calling (heckling and hollering) around Downing Street last night when May spoke, but I couldn’t make out the words.

  5. Eoin

In the House of Commons, an Opposition MP stands up and asks the bench opposite to put their hands up if they support the Brexit agreement. Not a hand goes up! Okay, it’s a blunt stunt, but still.

Let’s stop making calculations which assume the agreement yesterday still stands. Labour won’t support it. Many (most, nearly all) of the Tories won’t support it.

We need to be making preparations for no-deal Brexit.

  6. Ollie Cromwell

I understand Jacob Rees-Mogg has written his letter of no confidence in the PM.
It’s due to arrive at the 1922 Committee on the 3pm stagecoach.

  7. ReproButina

“Tory minister tells me if Brexiteers vote down Deal -he and others will openly campaign for a second referendum and to stay in EU.” tweets Norman Smith of the BBC

    1. SOQ

I personally think a socialist government in Britain would be a good thing. It would block this European mindset that the only way change can happen is via right wing nationalism.

You could have a situation where when Labour gets into power, GB really influences Europe again, and given the absolute mess made by this current British government, that looks increasingly likely.

  8. Dub Spot

“Esther”, “Suella”, “Jacob”…. complete Enid Blyton bunfight material.

Omnishambles doesn’t even come close to the antics.

    1. SOQ

The Northern Ireland minister Shailesh Vara quits over Theresa May’s agreement. Who or what is this?

I am all for equality but changing both race and gender overnight while still holding a position representing 1.6 mil is a bit much… even by my standards,

    Land of Hope and Glory
    Mother of the Free
    How shall we extol thee
    Who are born of thee?
    Wider still, and wider
    Shall thy bounds be set;
    God, who made thee mighty
    Make thee mightier yet!

Dear Land of Hope, thy hope is crowned
    God make thee mightier yet!
    On Sov’ran brows, beloved, renowned
Once more thy crown is set
Thine equal laws, by Freedom gained
    Have ruled thee well and long;
By Freedom gained, by Truth maintained
    Thine Empire shall be strong

Thy fame is ancient as the days
    As Ocean large and wide:
A pride that dares, and heeds not praise
    A stern and silent pride
Not that false joy that dreams content
    With what our sires have won;
The blood a hero sire hath spent
    Still nerves a hero son

    (Big fart sound in background)
