Yikes!

This morning.

Department of Children and Youth Affairs, Miesian Plaza, Baggot Street, Dublin 2

The Launch of First 5, “Ireland’s first ever 10-year strategy to support babies, children up to the age of 5 and their families”.

Above from left: Junior Minister of State for Higher Education, Mary Mitchell O’Connor, Taoiseach Leo Varadkar, Minister for Children and Youth Affairs Katherine Zappone, and Minister for Health Simon Harris (holding baby Ciara Molloy) and toddler Eria Visoka.

Mr Varadkar said:

“The Government wants to make life easier for families, while also providing children with the best possible start. The first five years of a child’s life only happen once, but the impact of their experiences during this period can last a lifetime. For this reason, the Government has developed the ‘First 5’ Strategy.

This is the first strategy of its kind in Ireland, setting out a road map for change and development over the coming decade.

Building on the many positive developments for young children in recent years, including family leave, subsidised Early Learning and Care, free GP care and a new Children’s Hospital, First 5 will significantly enhance early childhood in Ireland.”

Hmm.

I laughed. I shouldn’t have, but I did. I thought it was newsjustin making use of some very black humour.

Abortion means fewer babies knocking around the place realPolithicks. Think of the childcare savings.

You have to go to the states to find politicians who love photo opps as much as these two.

Next stop on the list is to turn the first sod on the ground of Ireland’s fist abortion clinic – all in a day’s work.

These ‘teeth ‘n tits’ photo ops are getting silly now. I mean, hair and makeup takes at least half an hour each and the women probably take longer.

More electioneering – a few months after the GE this strategy will suffer “operational difficulties” of some sort
