‘No Such Formal Request Has Been Recieved’

at

Taoiseach Leo Varadkar

This afternoon.

During Leaders’ Questions.

In the Dáil.

In reply to a question from Independent TD Tommy Broughan about this morning’s protest and collective call for inquests into those who died in the fire at the Stardust nightclub in Artane, Dublin on Valentine’s Day, 1981, to be reopened…

Taoiseach Leo Varadkar said KRW Law solicitors, acting for the Stardust relatives and victims, wrote to the Attorney General on April 12, saying that they were putting the AG on notice of their intention to make a formal request of him to grant new inquests, within a matter of weeks.

Mr Varadkar said the AG had acknowledged this letter but that, to date, KRW Law has yet to make the formal inquest.

He also claimed the AG office twice wrote to KRW Law, in July and this month, noting that the AG awaited the formal request.

Mr Varadkar added:

Once it is received, and I did speak to the Attorney General this morning, he will give it full consideration and will look at it afresh with an open mind.

Anyone?

    1. Yep

Partly. Some real indiscretions when you read about the reimbursement the owner received and the compensation families were offered….oh wait it’s Baz! Sorry. I thought you weren’t a ladypart. My mistake.

Hows about a friend of the ff party, locked the doors of a nightclub. Then tried to blame the innocent people inside for starting the fire and then the wrong building layout map was used at the inquest. oh and the owner got away with it

I remember that. Fire and the cover up and still today
The culprits and their families still protected by state
One day it will all come out

West of Dublin, North of the Liffey….ergo Northsiders.

          Also, typo alert:

“Mr Varadkar said the AG had acknowledged this letter but that, to date, KRW Law has yet to make the formal inquest.”

          Should be “formal request”

Not sure what the problem is here. He’s pretty open about the fact that once a request is made, they’ll look into it.

This is an unelected Taoiseach, who doesn’t want to deal with the Star Dust Tragedy, accepts a white wash at Charleton where the core issues are ignored re penalty points and drug dealing Gardaí , doesn’t want to deal with the housing emergency, doesn’t want to deal with the A&E crisis, doesn’t want to deal with the health crisis in relation to cancer, medicinal cannabis, waiting lists etc, what exactly does he do except pull on a pair of novelty socks and pay millions to a spin unit to make home and his completely enemy cabinet keep their exorbitant salaries. We thought FF fucked us in the “good times”!!! FG are doing far worse now.
