I had a conversation with someone involved in the Brendan Smyth case a few years ago. She said that people are far too trusting with who has access to their children. At the time I assumed her guardedness was because of her professional experiences but the more of these stories that come out, the more I now think she was right.

On the other hand, it must be nightmare being a man and working with children these days, primary school teachers for example or in junior sports. All it would take is one false accusation to ruin someone’s life. I don’t know where the balance is, or indeed if there even is one, but it is the cover ups that rouses people, and the fact that some of these guys appear to have been allowed operate with impunity.

Mary Lou seems to becoming more authoritarian by the day. Gerry is beginning to seem reasonable and cuddly.

@Millie: some things bear repeating, perhaps? SF/IRA continues to witter on about ‘truth and reconciliation’ for other actors in the 30 year slaughter while demanding that their own dark corners remain unlit.

Won’t argue that with you Neilo.

(also hi, long time no chat – how are you my dear?)

I was trying to be cheeky and it must’ve fallen flat instead O.o

Aw, Sheikh, pet…you got your names wrong again, it’s M-A-R-Y-L-O-U etc not B-I-G-O-T. I should have guessed all that time you spent in opium dens during the Boxer Rebellion would affect your cognitive process.

Just a quick glance thought he had some work done, he should play Noonan in the Film of his life, Scandal 2, or 3, 5. You will believe a man can fuck up so badly

    This’ll be fun!

“Public bodies that block people on social media must give them an “intelligible and adequate” reason, the information commissioner has said.” reports Seán McCárthaigh in the Times Ireland today.

“Public bodies” appear to be those which are subject to Freedom of Information.

I wonder does this apply to government ministers, their departments are subject to FoI and you can seek records of the minister. Will be interesting to test! Charlie Flanagan, for example, is a divil for blocking people on Twitter.

For the love of god not mick mccarthy. And robbie keane? That chancer will milk the game dry just like delaney.

The Dream Team? Someone’s having a laugh.

McCarthy’s race is run and Keane’s managerial experience amounts to three games with some dud outfit in India.

The clown Delaney could go for it though.

Backwards we’re going. McCarthy had his shot with the ROI team, he quit. He quit Ipswich too. He’s a quitter when the going gets tough, and believe me, to build up the Irish Team again will be tough.

Leave O’Neill in place if that’s our only option.
