See The Lights

at

Custom House and Samuel Beckett Bridge in Dublin and Run Logic in Temple Bar, Dublin

Next Wednesday, December 12.

At 6.15pm.

The Dublin Running Meet Up Group – a group of recreational runners who go for 30 minute to hour-long post-works jogs – will be meeting up for a 10km jog around the city to see the capital’s lights before having a burger.

They’ll start from the shop Run Logic at 3-4 Smock Alley Court, Essex Street West, Temple Bar, Dublin 2.

They write:

“Dublin City Council has decorated 13 buildings in and around the city centre, including four bridges. We will be running from the shop taking in the sights on this elaborate tour of Dublin, stopping at locations for photo opportunities.

“We will also be able to loop through town via the bridges – reaching as far as the East Link Bridge and back to Temple Bar.

“Closing out the night we will go for burgers at WOW on the quays.”

“We warm gear, high viz safety gear and a big smile!”

Any excuse

it’s the realistic depth of the liffey after they dredged all the crap out of it, cars, bikes, shopping trolleys dating back to the Jurassic era.

I sat on the Samuel Beckett Bridge recently, for about 20 minutes. It shook so hard I thought there was something wrong with the car. Why so long? Because coming from Pearse street, the queue right up north-side Guild Street inched to get onto Sheriff Street Upper.

One full frigging hour to get from Grand Canal Dock to Sheriff Street.

And even then, the road veers to the left before you can turn right for absolutely no reason. This is the major route out of the city centre to the port tunnel ffs. Single lane and traffic lights that giving a wink every ten minutes.

Have a look at Beckett Bridge then slide upwards. https://www.google.ie/maps/place/Samuel+Beckett+Bridge,+Co.+Dublin,+Ireland/@53.3499249,-6.2450762,16.5z/data=!4m5!3m4!1s0x48670e8d50e75c03:0xaa6b1b85aca2548d!8m2!3d53.3469679!4d-6.2413818

If you want to get green about it, the NTA are responsible for more pollution in Dublin City Centre than any other organisation because when it comes to transport planning, their incompetence knows no bounds.

      Apart from that,

The Samuel Beckett Bridge is a bit like the man who won’t wear glasses… better to look good than see good.

As for that fridge lit thing near Heuston Station? You wouldn’t walk slippy near it in winter weather and black out blinds 3 4 a 5 in carpet land.
