Plogging?
“Plogging is a combination of jogging with picking up litter (Swedish: plocka upp). It started as an organised activity in Sweden around 2016 and spread to other countries in 2018, following increased concern about plastic pollution. As a workout, it provides variation in body movements by adding bending, squatting and stretching to the main action of running.” – Wikipedia
Ploggers Ireland? I don’t know if there’s still a “Keep Ireland Tidy” campaign – I could google it, but then that would show that I’m not lazy enough to throw my litter at my feet.
Bogging in Ireland, surely.
Yes, it’s a thing.

“Bogging” is a different thing altogether … https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mNOwYmCvlEk
But how would you plog a person?
i.e. “Some people at Blackrock DART station in need of a good plogging”
More of a machine design fault I think. If ATMs solved the litter problem by issuing receipts on request only, so can these.
There is a difference between an ATM giving you a record of a withdrawal Vs a ticket machine giving you a receipt of a purchase. There may be a legal requirement to provide a receipt*?
*Ninja edit. There doesn’t seem to be a requirement – as long as the customer agrees.
But if they can ask – they should change the systems.
Plogging is also used as a verb, referring to the keeping of an in-flight P(ilot) Log.

Every day is a school day.
Thanks all, learn summit’ new everday
They should try dogging out in the carpark waiting on the next train
Its not just a Dart thing, its a Luas thing too.
Torn between asking if the machine should ask you if you want a receipt or if people should just clean up after themselves.
I thought LUAS had a receipt option? Good to know. I’d ask.
Obviously the machine should ask you. The receipts are unwanted so regardless of litter it is a waste of paper and money.
is there a name for the imperiousness attached to using a leap card, then?
Tony McGregor
Default really should be no receipt, awful waste printing all those receipts on card
And I don’t think they are recyclable as they are coated with some sort of plastic.
Plogging is the new vegan aparently
Don’t you plog? Oh I’m so into plogging right now, I’m a full-blown plogger *sips wine judgmentally at you* it’s for the planet you know? *smugs subtly but noticeably*
Am I right in saying if you pay cash you don’t get a receipt so why is paying by card where the debit is instantly recorded on your online banking so important.
Maybe somebody is on expenses…. or the DART … a lot…
Córas Iompair Éireann (Irish Rail) are the state within the state and not even covered by FOI so hardly worried about paper waste. Along with the National Transport Authority, their wilful incompetence affects your life in some form or another, every single day.
And what does Shane Ross do? Bring the drink driving limit down without any evidence that the differential will make a blind bit of difference. Still, it keeps him in the papers I suppose. What a nasty little knacker that man turned out to be.
