Amid the chaos, Macron’s approval rating in France is just 23 percent, according to the latest poll from international polling company Ifop, as many on both the left and right see him as out-of-touch.

Meanwhile…

Forty-eight percent of Americans polled in a new American Barometer survey say they approve of President Trump‘s performance in office. The poll showed 24 percent of respondents said they “strongly approved” of Trump, while another 24 percent said they “somewhat approve” of him.

I just surprised he has dropped Gemma so quickly since she and Trump now share so many views on immigration, the lgbtq community, Muslims, etc. I am sure she will be back on in no time.

    It’s a funny old world.
I mentioned this same apparent chasm in approval ratings on here last week and got a torrent of abuse.
I think mostly from disappointed liberals who had seen their great white hope shot down in the flames of the Champs Elysees.

I think a lot of people are getting confused by the fact that what the french call a liberal is what would be known as neo-liberal elsewhere. Most left-leaning people would’ve been supporting Mélenchon for the presidency but I reckon most people were happy to accept Macron over Le Pen. The idea that Macron was the “great white hope” of liberals is absolute nonsense but of course you know that and are just trying to rustle some jimmies, as it were.

I think this article from journalist Diana Johnson, who’s lived in France for decades, explains what’s going on in the clearest context –
        https://consortiumnews.com/2018/12/05/yellow-vests-rise-against-neo-liberal-king-macron/
“The Yellow Vests have made clear to the whole world that Emmanuel Macron was an artificial product sold to the electorate by an extraordinary media campaign…

..He was chosen by the financial oligarchy above all to save the European Union from threatening disintegration caused by the euro. The treaties establishing the EU and above all the common currency, the euro, have created an imbalance between member states that is unsustainable…

..Germany doesn’t want to share economic power with states it considers irresponsible spendthrifts. So Macron’s mission is to show Germany that France, despite its flagging economy, is “responsible”, by squeezing the population in order to pay interest on the debt…

..For some two or three hundred years, people one could call “left” hoped that popular movements would lead to changes for the better. Today, many leftists seem terrified of popular movements for change, convinced “populism” must lead to “fascism”. This attitude is one of many factors indicating that the changes ahead will not be led by the left as it exists today. Those who fear change will not be there to help make it happen. But change is inevitable and it need not be for the worse..”

Id like to see the questions.

“somewhat approve” does that mean if he’s done one thing I like then I approve of him.
I’m sure even Hitler did something nice at some point.
    Like kill himself.

Trump will resign soon, have his fortune dismantled and possibly go to prison for Tax evasion, corruption and treason. I don’t believe this poll, last I heard he had a 69% dissparoval rating. He is obviosly a moron judging by his last performance in fornt of the cameras with Pelois ad Schumer.
