The Portuguese, 55, won the League Cup and the Europa League at Old Trafford.
But United are sixth in the Premier League, 19 points behind leaders Liverpool, who beat them 3-1 on Sunday.

And King ‘Arry is just back from the jungle. Serendipitous or wha?
Jose got what he wanted for Christmas.
he sure did, kerching! you’d almost wonder if he engineered it, he’s a snake.
have never understood why they hired him, Eva Carneiro showed you all you needed to know.
but thank fupp. I’m lifelong, seen the lows and all those highs, but this? I’d rather watch them go down trying to play properly than this. I think the board are also fighting, they’re already talking about appointing fancy managers from outside the club when it’s inside they should be thinking.
3 bad managerial appointments in a row –
the next one is critical if they’re to halt the slide.

pity, really hoped they would stuck with him till the end of the season and let the hilarity continue
I doubt even a new super manager could turn around the hilarity for another few months anyway!
the whole premiership is hilarious…over hyped and over there.
am gutted
mourinho’s management of united was almost as entertaining as the british government’s handling of brexit
no disrespect to wolverhampton wanderers but still think that united have what it takes to hold onto 6th position
it is not widely known, but mourinho used to post on here under the username ‘david’..
No way, jose!
Roy Keane, football manager.
Yes I must say, I enjoyed watching week after week how miserable Jose looked at each game, with every crappy result. Funny stuff. I’ve never seen such a miserable, uninspiring manager in the Premier League. I think Jose is finished at the top level. The magic has worn off, and he leaves a bad stink in the dressing room by the end. The players looked miserable too.
I think Manchester United need one of these new breed of exciting, inspiring managers like Poccetino, Klopp, or Emery. Someone who gives youth a chance too.
