A Limerick A Day

Sligo farmer Andy ‘The Bull’ McSharry said he will kill any dogs found with or without a lead on his land.

A farmer is taking a stand
Against any dog found on his land
And though you may plead
That your pet’s on a lead
He’ll still open fire out of hand.

    Something not adding up here.

    a) This man has a criminal conviction for threatening behaviour. He still has a shotgun?

    b) His previous aside, the fact that he’s openly making threats like this should be sufficient for the local Inspector to take his blunderbuss away.

I agree entirely. He shouldn’t have had his licence renewed after that conviction. On point b, he is publicly stating that he will use his firearm to commit a criminal offence – if he were to fire a shotgun at a dog at dog-lead’s-length from a person, that would clearly be reckless discharge of a firearm under S.8 of the Firearms and Offensive Weapons Act, 1990.

See also the Firearms Act, 1964 (as amended) S.27A.- (1) It is an offence for a person to possess or control a firearm in circumstances that give rise to a reasonable inference that the person does not possess or control it for a lawful purpose, unless the person possesses or controls it for such a purpose.

Mc Sharry couldn’t hit the gable end of a barn with a shotgun so I don’t know where he thinks his pinpoint sniper skills will come out of if he’s aiming for a dog being walked by someone.

“I watched her putting it into her car and she treated that little dog like it was a piece of china. Well, I think my sheep are as good as china as well”

This hopped up gun nut only values his sheep for their monetary worth and doesn’t understand that animals can be more than livestock.

It’s only a matter of time before he kills a hiker.

Shepherds don’t care about sheep. They either want to eat’ em , fleece ’em or f__’ em.

inbred farmer shoots inbred dogs owned by inbred dog lovers who think the dogs love them back .. and the problem is?

It’s a story that might just end with the old tagline:
“I’m looking for the man that shot my paw”

Well he may be a Major pain, but his status has been Diminished and he now plays a Minor role – which I’m sure he frets about?
