Andyourpointiswhatexactly?
Started making it. Had a breakdown. Bon appetit!
James Acaster was hilarious. I’m really enjoying it this year. Sandy and Noel are a joy.
Mind boggling that head of police missing children in Portugal at time of Madeleine McCann disappearance is on trial for leading crime mafia gang. No wonder Scotland Yard still there – 11-75 million investigation to date. Good work!

the poor girl is long dead, would probably be alive if her parents forked out for a babysitter..

You’re not only a broken record, you’re also a total willyhead, dav.

I’ve never commented on the death of Madeleine McCann before, so your ill advised ad hominem appears pretty foolish.
Papi
No, it really doesn’t.

So, the choice for the Brits in seeking an extension is
(1) ratify the current draft deal and the EU will give the Brits a short extension (until June 2019) to implement the draft agreement
(2) seek a 2-year extension so that, in that time, the UK can re-examine its strategic red lines and change them and seek to negotiate an agreement with the EU based on the revised red lines.
If it’s (2) which is likely, then there will be civil unrest in the UK because Brexiteers will feel that it shouldn’t take nearly 5 years to put into effect their vote in June 2016.

I must have missed it in the papers. Figures from the CSO yesterday show house prices are falling by over €1,000 a month, with prices in Dublin falling €5,000 a month. Surely, the Irish Times wouldn’t hide that sort of info just to protect its MyHome.ie business (PS, according to the Irish Times, Dublin 8 narrowest “cottage”, really a single storey terraced tenement, is on sale for ONLY €295,000 PPS, it will be worth half that after a price correction and crash).

The family of the Bloody Sunday victims will never see justice. The Examiner reports that the comments by the UK defence minister Gavin Williamson, firmly supporting the armed forces and ignoring the victims, may have jeopardised any trial. The Examiner reports that a solicitor for one of the families is accusing the defence minister of being in contempt of court.
The Northern Ireland minister Karen Bradley said the day before she was going to extend amnesty legislation that applies 1973-1998 to 1972, and that, for the first time, soldiers would enjoy the same 2-year max sentence for crimes during the conflict as the paramilitaries.

You’ll probably find that Soldier F, or whatever he’s known by these days, is on a life support machine or hasn’t too much longer to live anyway, thus the british avoiding any trial.
Were any of our journalists up to asking Varadkar about it? Doesn’t look like it. Maybe it’s in some byline somewhere.

WTF can you get opiates over the counter from a pharmacist in Ireland without a doctor’s prescription?
USA, Australia and many European countries have restricted “Codeine” so that you can only get it with a prescription from a GP. Not so in Ireland, and guess what
I usually just look sheepish and buy a small box of tampons with my Solpadeine
Janet, I ate my avatar

Would certainly be easier than my current method of frequenting a different chemists every week…..

Are they any good? I’ve heard mixed reports but they seem like such a good idea

you can’t just grab a box of codeine. You have to explain to the pharmacist that you’ve tried other types of analgesic and they’re insufficient for your pain. It means you do have to hit different pharmacists each time if you need a fresh box of solpadeine every day.

“can you get opiates over the counter from a pharmacist in Ireland without a doctor’s prescription?”
And of the plus or extra strong mild painkillers have codeine in them. You get asked quite a lot of questions from the pharmacist now who generally tend to try and steer you away from them unless you have a good excuse.
Know a pharmacist who said up to introducing that the same people would be coming in each day looking for a pack. Madness.
The Old Boy
Here in the UK you can still buy Solpadeine Max over the counter without having to explain yourself to a pharmacist, which always strikes me as slightly mad.
Andyourpointiswhatexactly?
Come home, Old Boy. If for that reason alone: it would lead to great conversations.
The Old Boy
You make me sound like Michael Harding, squeezing a column in the Irish Times out of the conversation I had with some young pharmacist while negotiating the purchase of Solpadeine for a hangover the size of Wales.
