On The Late Late Show

Sarah Whiteacre writes:

In an emotional interview with host Ryan Tubridy, Rod Stewart reflects on family, fame and fortune and discusses why Irish ballad Grace means so much to him.

In November 2015, Katie Healy and David Nolan survived a terror attack at the Bataclan…A month later David proposed, and the couple went on to welcome a beautiful daughter in to their lives. Last December, they received news that no parent wants to hear, and the couple join Ryan to discuss their daughter’s life changing diagnosis.

He brought us Irish Mammies, and now author Colm O’Regan is back with a new book…Colm joins Ryan to discuss what makes the Irish Mammy such a treasured part of our national identity…

We’ll also be taking a look back at some of Ireland’s most iconic ads, and catching up with actor Joe McKinney 25 years on from dancing in that Guinness ad.

Music will be from James Morrison

The Late Late Show, RTÉ One, Friday, March 15th at 9.35pm

And all that dancing was for nowt….two part pour indeed!

I was in Barcelona last year in a pub serving Kilkenny cream ale and they were doing the two part pour FFS on that!

    ONE POUR WILL DO!

      I pour a lovely pint and (for porter) it’s always a two-parter.
Jeez, I’d murder a drink now.
What were we talking about, again?

Who cares, I’m off in 34 minutes for the whole weekend so don’t care. :)

There will be ale or porter or whiskey in my near future, I know that much. And I don’t care how its poured!!!!

(Jaysus, I think I have posted more today than ever….because, weekend.)

It probably is these days. In the olden days when I learned how to pour, you pulled the tap forward (gas) to fill the glass, then you pushed it back (no gas) to top the pint.

It would be interesting to know if the state broadcaster charged Diageo / Guinness for the prominent product placement – a day before a National-Drink-Your-Head-Off-Day – or do they give away such valuable placements and TV time for free?

Stop that cynicism Dude. Next, you’ll be suggesting Rod Stewart is just on there to flog €150 tickets for his concert in the Arena, still plenty available! Or the book guy is there to flog his latest work. It’s just bare-naked commercialism masquerading as light entertainment. At least Graham Norton does it with panache.

I wonder what thoughts go thru Tubs head these days when he looks on at just how well Norton has developed, how successful he’s become. a superstar.
Does he tell himself “ah I coulda done that too but sur I love Dublin too much…” etc.
        Second Division..Junior B kingpin.

    2. Dub Spot

Of course they did. Diageo are the Facebook of booze. People only drink it because they think they should.

  3. Spud

That couple went through so much in the Bataclan, didn’t realise their child was ill?
Hope it’s not as bad as it sounds :(

      1. Janet, I ate my avatar

you come on here proclaiming yourself a Christian with your anti abortion arguments, and your defense of abusers and you are listened to but don’t you dare deny the deaths of people I held dear, shame on you

pardon I believe I confused you with Justin but I’m still so angry at your comment

Your friend was murdered by security services not mad Moslems, my comments reflect the lies spewed out by the security services via their lapdog media outlets. It’s all died down now the so called allies lost the war for Syria but they’ll be back soon angling for their beloved EU army.

          2. Janet, I ate my avatar

thanks for your response, I thought it was one of those comments saying they were actors, which obviously I can’t abide.

            friends not friend in Paris
            and another on London bridge,
do you really believe the elite of Europe kill random civilians of thier own countries ?
how small do you think these circles get ?
who do you think makes those decisions?
I’m not being facetious, I’d like to get your point of view ?

          4. jusayinlike

Check out the next episode of ReMastered on Netflix. It deals with the Miami showband murdered by the uvf aided with collusion with the British security services.

See No Stone unturned by Alex Gibney, about the loughinisland massacre with same theme.

happens closer to home than you think..

          5. jusayinlike

The London nail bomb attacks, the Birmingham pub bombings.

            All collusion with security services.

          6. jusayinlike

And my bone is with the media outlets that gleefully lie about it. I’m in no doubt that people died at these events.

  4. Dub Spot

Seriously? Some guy was in a Guinness TV ad a quarter of a century ago and we need an update from someone earning the best part of half a million squids on a Friday night. Disgusting.

    1. bisted

…hey…he was a brilliant actor…remember he was carried off stage a couple of times…what do you call the theatre up in Francis St…?

    2. Cú Chulainn

What about the guy who had his idea stolen by Guinness* (he lost his case but everyone could tell he was robbed).. maybe the streak of grey could interview him..
