‘It Was Just F**king Unfair The Way The Irish Were Treated’

Rod Stewart

Tonight on RTÉ One.

On the Late Late Show.

A pre-recorded interview with singer Rod Stewart will be broadcast.

Sarah Whitecare, of RTE, writes:

During the clip [above], host Ryan Tubridy presents Rod with a collection of poetry by Joseph Mary Plunkett, published in 1916. When asked why the story of Joseph Plunkett means so much to him, an emotional Rod said:

“It’s everything about him, everything about him. This guy was so… Sorry… [gets emotional] This guy was a very intelligent man… so were all the leaders… It just means so much to me because it was just f**king unfair the way the Irish were treated.”

Unnaturally spiky.

The Late Late Show is on RTÉ One tonight at 9.35pm.

Yeah, yea, enough already, Rod is playing the 3Arena in December and there are still plenty of €150-a-seat (including fees) spaces available. As a fan of Rod, I am a little concerned that his agent thinks I would be in the target audience of the Late Late.

No doubt I said this before but I’m old and prone to repeating myself…
When I was a kid I was standing on the Kop with my Da and these lads started singing “we hate Nottingham Forest…”
This big scouser stood up and yelled… “This is Liverpool. You sing about us. F**k everyone else”.
That struck a chord with me, even as a kid.
Ever since, I just worry about Liverpool and Dublin, the rest can worry about themselves.

From the late 60’s to mid 70’s he was phenomenal BB, he descended into pastiche undeniably and he acknowledges that but his back catalogue is superb imo.

Is Broadsheet paid by RTE to promote their chat shows? Every week, they copy and paste the press release as is. At least pretend to care lads…

They’re not paid. They just LOVE Ryan and Ray. Who doesn’t? They’re men at the very top of their game—this is clear week in, week out.

The whole thing is a scam for John Ryan to improve his chances of getting tickets for the LL Toy Show. Why would RTE pay for advertising without demanding comments be disabled (though admittedly we are not dealing with intellectuals here)? Gluttons for punishment….

…they seem to be struggling to sell the tickets for his concert…he’ll have plenty of blood money though…

…I landed a salmon for him in Mayo years ago…didn’t recognise him but it was very early morning and he was wearing yellow wellies…thought he might be famous…never thought he would be a scumbag…

Great performer, Rod. Saw him in Las Vegas a few years ago. Total entertainment.

And what a great moment on TV. Powerful and honest. Yeah, I still do think he’s sexy.

    Sound.
