From top: Deputy CEO , National Transport Authority (NTA) Hugh Creegan (left) and CEO TII Michael Nolan; Project Director Aidan Foley outlining details to the preferred route for MetroLink
This afternoon.
Alexandra Hotel, Dublin 2
The unveiling of the new route of Dublin’s MetroLink rail line. The revised plan will run from Estuary North of Swords to Dublin’s South city at Charlemont, serving Dublin Airport and the City Centre.
Meanwhile..
he NTA has also decided not to use Na Fianna GAA pitches in Glasnevin for construction and to build a smaller underground station on the neighbouring grounds of Home Farm soccer club.
Other changes include a decision to move the underground stop on O’Connell St from the beneath the road to under the nearby site of the old Carlton cinema, which is due to be developed as a shopping centre.
More as we get it.

Posh boy Harris didn’t want it to disturb his entitled supporters
Completely off topic but here’s one to stir the pot lads, if you like.
All criminal charges dropped… https://jrnl.ie/4561841
The project has gotten smaller so presumable the cost will increase considerably.
I would say this will top 4 billion euro knowing the form
And brexit just round the corner
A small group of “concerned citizens” absolutely fupping over everyone south of them.
The plan was absolutely dire and terribly planned.
This way the luas remains open while they make an absolute boo boo of the metro for years to come.
Surely, “Charlemont Sunset” or “Down in the FG Polling Stattion at Midnight?”
NIMBYism. Typical.
Ha! There will be very few nice pictures around Stephens Green once (if) Metro starts. A very big building site and how do you think they will be taking the earth and rock out? By lorry of course, lots and lots of lorries.
Rock will come out on a site in Ballymun not in SSG. This is underground construction using a tunnel boring machine, it is not cut and cover as you are thinking.
I am well aware of what it is. It won’t just pop up mole like, there is substantial digging to be done at Stephens Green to get down to the level of the tunnel.
It will probably be the biggest hole ever dug in the city centre.
Absolutely ridiculous. Once all the new houses in Cherrywood are built the Luas is going to be unusable at rush hour.
You can barely get on it from Dundrum as it is! INSANE it’s not running to Sandyford
