The boy Leo doesn’t exactly practise what he preaches. His own stonewalling of questions in the Dail is a replica of what he is complaining about.
Then again like the abortion referendum, he waits until his team gauges public opinion before he makes his pronouncement.
The fair weather taoiseach.

Exactly, how many inquiries and commissions of investigation are still ongoing. Isn’t the IBRC one in its fourth year after Leo granted five extensions, all we wanted to find out was whether there were shenanigans when IBRC sold Siteserv to Denis O’Brien. There are, by my count, nearly 10 other inquiries ongoing. And they’re used as a shield to stop questions.
Tell us Leo, how much did the State pay last year to protect Callinan from claims by Sgt Maurice McCabe? How much damages did we pay out for what Callinan did to Maurice? Sorry, that would be covered by legal confidentiality. John Delaney learned to stonewall from the best.

Lucia & Jim of Farrell ( through their own grit and determination ) are today still waiting for answers on the tragic death of their son Shane in 2011. It must be soul destroying & withering for them. Compassion and integrity are in short supply for victims . Leo will meet Kylie but not Lucia. Just about sums him up.

Imagine that. Listening to public sentiment on a highly controversial issue fraught with career ending difficulty, and then acting accordingly.
GiggidyGoo
Aye Mr. Gammon. You reckon he’s listening then? If he is listening to public sentiment, then why are the Siteserv/IRBC reports not being expedited? How does it take four years and counting (1460 days +/-) to examine what went on. Or the public sentiment about the Boy Ministers?
GiggidyGoo
Being a Fair Weather Taoiseach? That’s something the FFGLAB buckos love about their ‘leaders’ alright.

Maybe you could pay someone to check the content of posts to ensure they comply with policy guidelines, like the way you are saying DAFT.ie should do, eh? Just a thought
GiggidyGoo
How much does BS charge you again?
eoin
Maybe BS could bring in a charging system for comments, like the one used at Daft.ie for rental ads
€175 (featured rental ad), €95 (premium, high priority) or €45 (standard rental listing)? I mean this is the revenue which ultimately means Eamonn and Brian Fallon are walking away with a share of €8 million dividends.
Maybe €175 on BS will get you a pretty avatar and your comment will appear at the top surrounded by flashing lights and you could use the occasional cuss word.
Maybe €95 on BS will get you an equally pretty avatar but it’s first-come-first-served for the placing of your comment and you don’t get to use cuss words ever
Maybe €45 means you get a dozy avatar assigned and your comments are stuck in moderation for hours.
Isn’t remarkable BS is able to monitor comments for bad language and more importantly illegality and, incredibly, defamatory material, without charging a penny?
GiggidyGoo
And allow you the option to do your own lit of shilling. Aren’t you lucky to have a place to write your opinions and not be censored (too much)

There are almost 30 local election candidates born outside Ireland running for FF, FG, Lab, SD, the Greens, PBP and as independents. These are people who have made their lives in Ireland and are willing to put themselves forward to represent and work for their local area. What could possibly be wrong with that?
GiggidyGoo
I didn’t say there was anything wrong with it. But if they want to stand for election, they could do a lot better than doing so on a FF (or FG, or Labour in that’s the case) ticket. There are enough gombeens in FFGLAB of our own ethnicity, without filling the new Irish with the same gombeenism and training them in (should they be successful) in the ways of sleight of hand.

When sports words like ‘offside’, ‘own goal’ and ‘free kickbacks’ etc. have been exhausted by journos covering the running story, it would be time for a national discussion about high salaries paid to CEOs of charities, NGOs, cultural and recreational organizations. Talcott Parsons was a sociologist who noted that bureaucracies tend to expand themselves to enhance their importance and career development of employees. Across the board of statutory and NGO bodies in Ireland there has been a Warriors and Indians divergence and an excess of money spent on administration.

interesting story in the Irish Times – it’s the 100 year anniversary of a massacre in India by British imperialists in which an Irishman was complicit: Over 2 decades later, he was tracked down by a witness to the massacre and assassinated. The date of the killer’s own death is a national holiday in Punjab.
“O’Dwyer represents the vanished tribe of Catholic Irish loyalists who believed as fervently in the British Empire as the British themselves. Before the Easter Rising, he said Jesuit schools “prided themselves on the numbers they passed into the service of the Crown, in the army and the civil service”.”

Since neither of you can read apparently, I’ll clear it up for you.
It crashed into the moon.
I think you’ll find it crashed into the fake cardboard cut-out they put up there to make you think there’s a moon.
So it did land on the Moon
Albeit in hundreds of pieces
I read that Netanyahu immediately accused the flight director of using anti-symmetric calculations for the spacecraft’s trajectory

I see Proper Charlie Flanagan doesn’t care much for his Irish constituents who are on the housing list you years. Nope. Allocate council housing to 110 Syrians (whose country is begging them to return to rebuild the country) and let people who pay their taxes in Ireland continue suffering.
Charlie will get his come-uppance come next election.
