Yesterday.

The exceedingly tall poster of Fine Gael Cork City Council LE candidate Des Cahill (mentioned in the regular Broadsheet column of Green Party council hopeful Dan Boyle). To wit:

One current Cork City Council candidate has produced a three metre long poster. The amount of empty space on the poster would seem to indicate that not enough achievements exist to meet the candidate’s ambition….

Meanwhile…

Gerard twasks:

With all that space why is his party colleagues name -Deirdre Forde- in such tiny tiny tiny print? Is all not happiness and cooperation in Cork FG?

Anyone?

Yesterday: Dan Boyle: Post No Bills

Meanwhile

Oh.

Across Cork this morning.

Looks like an improvement from where I’m standing.

BTW, are those billboard size signs legit?

That’s not how graphic design works. But anyway this just looks like an attempt at pole-blocking.

Regarding the defacing of posters, anyone know what the legal position is? Dan the Man couldn’t be coaxed into responding yesterday, maybe he’s too busy keeping 24/7 guard over his modest 100 erections.

““Kevin O’Higgins, legal adviser to the Fine Gael Party said there is little legal action candidates can take over defaced posters “unless you have proof”.

“It is private property…probably not a criminal act, more of a civil thing,” he said.”

Should it be legal for me to scrawl my opinion on your choice of vehicle on the bonnet of your car?

I think that should be expanded to all billboards – it would truly represent the free market.

Should it be legal for me to call you a Nazi pedo? Even if it damaged your reputation and joy of feet? Funnily enough, in our neighbouring jurisdiction, that would be criminal matter, but here in Ireland, it would be a civil matter.

In fact the Constitution says “The State guarantees liberty for the exercise of the following rights, subject to public order and morality: i. The right of the citizens to express freely their convictions and opinions”

Is there a public order issue with drawing a toothbrush moustache on FGers? It should be a public order issue if you don’t.

It’s against the law to deface another person’s private property; why is it that you think that posters would be any different?

“The State guarantees liberty for the exercise of the following rights, subject to public order and morality: i. The right of the citizens to express freely their convictions and opinions”

            – if that’s the case, surely it must be legal for me to draw all over thepaddyman’s car?

Again – you’re wrong, same as you were yesterday. If you google you will come across the occasional criminal prosecution for an instance of criminal damage.

Incapable of arguing against my point, the BS brains trust resort to silly non sequiturs instead
          ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Well if you put your smiling face in public what do you expect…. Waste of plastic and money.

Responsible part of me condemns this attack on the posters.

The less responsible part had a bit of a giggle at the Hitler tache.

    :)
