Get your hair cut.

TCD Alumni tweetz:

Two of Trinity’s oldest students arrive on campus for the launch of #InspiringGenerations – still studying at 100, an inspiration to us all!

Layabouts.

In fairness.

I don’t find these giant grey photocopies very appealing, but that’s art for you.

      > Isn’t this college underfunded?

Trinity will remain underfunded until the day they are again allowed set their own fees, and probably even after that. Trinity were never happy about giving up control of their fees, before they were able to charge premium fees, after they had to settle for what the government gave them. They’d love to go back to being able to set their own fees.

In any case I doubt any university would ever say that government funding alone is enough, but they do have other revenue. Funding from corporate research brings in money, which is why you hear Universities going on about becoming research institutes. Undergraduate level is often about putting people on track to becoming future researchers and ultimately generating much needed revenue.
Begging for donations, particularly from graduates brings in more revenue. Irish universities do a little bit of fundraising, but from what I’ve read American Universities do enormous amounts of fundraising.

      > How much did this tootlefest cost?

It is marketing campaign, the costs are probably trivial compared the budget of the college, and the funds they expect this will help raise

“Our ambitious Campaign goals are €400m in donations and 150,000 volunteer hours. ‘Inspiring Generations’ will advance Trinity into the next decade and lay the groundwork for us to inspire generations to come.”

Beckett — “They give birth astride a grave”. Is this some kind of TCD in-joke?
