Shatter, unlike many in FG, was a very capable person but his own poor choices left him open to the ‘assassination’ as he puts it.

He could have a great one, he was too chummy with Callinan and was too much of a mouth on TV.

Also, the whole drink driving test he ducked out of, no matter how much he may have been in the right (or not) was terrible optics.

Bad enough that we have to suffer the incompetence of these tramps without having to read about them.

What matters in politics are events, dear boy, events. Media frenzy magnifies events.

That subtitle layout is awful too. And who would put a Matt Cooper endorsement on the front cover? That’s for the likes of the Irish Times.

It’s Gavin Reilly, set a low bar for expectations. I mean he chose social justice warrior and Ivan Yates’s sidekick Matt Cooper for a cover quote, must have been a short walk over to him in the canteen to get it.

“Alan Shatter, my part in his downfall” by Mick Wallace. Now that’s a book I’d buy.

While those quotes make me want to vom, all the smut is in the one scene. I read the rest of the book and it is desperately dull

  6. The Old Boy

    Shouldn’t that be Writs Crackers?

(With apologies to Paulus, I’ll get my gown)

What are Rits crackers anyway? Does he mean Ritz crackers or am I missing some pun?
