Anything good in the papers about Eoghan McCabe of #Intercom? #metoo

Has he stood down to spend time reflecting?

He’ll get an easy ride from the Irish media regardless. Just like the Collisons from Stripe got an award from the Irish Times this week. Despite having financially backed opposition to a proposition to deal with inequalties in San Francisco.

Company opposes tax that will solve nothing and will likely make a bad problem worse. Quite the scoop you have there.

    2. Niamh

Thank you, it’s even very hard to find the original complaints, which are of aggressive sexual harassment.
The independent ran with the story and it ended up as basically an advertisement into his business and how great a guy he was

Weirdly dysfunctional company, Intercom. Apparently they require job applicants to provide hours of free consultancy work as part of their so-called recruitment process.

A pox on all these idiots wanting to infest the work place with the American nightmare.

Always have, always do and always will. that’s the FG way.
the living – kick them when they’re down
the working – tax them to the hilt and force them into boxes to live
the dead – stack them high and let them rot for all to see.

  2. shayna

“Freddie ate my hamster?” He owed thousands? It was a water charge. I dread to think what people will think, or write about me when I die. Of course, I’ll be dead, so it really doesn’t matter.

  3. GiggidyGoo

Sooooooo. The IMF are gone? are they?
Daffy and the cockroaches will have to come up with some new lies.

I think there is a court order which prohibits the naming of the media outlet which has been banned from reporting the trial, so who knows.

Altogether separate to the DPP suing the Mail yesterday, on Monday, the DPP will continue with her case against the Indo, Nicola Anderson and Fionnan Sheehan after the collapse of a rape trial last year.

But, you know, “careless/vindictive tweeters” and “[Twitter] flutes”

      2. Dub Spot

I think the disclosure of the name of the medium is part of the restriction. But, process of elimination is not.

The Times Ireland reports Sports Ireland (that’s the body we give €60 million a year and it charges us €5 million a year to distribute the money to sporting bodies, so we can improve fitness, culture and national pride from sports) has engaged a weensy management consultancy business from a back street in Newry to carry out an audit of the money Sport Ireland has given the FAI.

Up to now, Sport Ireland has been insistent the €3m-odd that’s given to the FAI each year has been appropriately spent. The Times Ireland reports “Yesterday Sport Ireland confirmed that Kosi Corporation had been appointed to audit Irish football’s governing body. “The audit will independently assess the expenditure of all Sport Ireland grant funding in accordance with the FAI’s approved submissions,” it said. “It will also examine in detail the FAI’s wider financial administration and internal control environment, including an assessment of the FAI’s fitness to handle public funds.””

When will we learn and dropkick Kieran Mulvey off every state board including Sport Ireland. These jokers handed over nearly €1 million to the FAI a fortnight after the Sunday Times €100,000 loan revelations, without getting proper answers as to the state of the FAI’s finances.

    1. curmudgeon

Spot on Eoin. Mr. Mulvey is has had his nose in the states many troughs for decades.

Satisfaction in Leo is at an all-time low of 36% after “plummeting” says the Irish Times from a poll conducted this week.

After the NCH, NBP, Metrolink, health spending, FG must surely has lost its reputation for fiscal responsibility (that’s for the slow learners, when SF pulled them up on the fiscal space, you could see something was wrong).

After Sgt McCabe, the scandals in the Gardai as long as your arm, FG must surely have lost its reputation for being the party of law and order.

After housing and health, FG must surely have lost its reputation for being able to govern.

Now, if only there was a proper Opposition.

Who would have thought Margaret Thatcher (rust in peace) would have commanded such prices at auction. Maybe this is where Mary Robinson got her valuation for that tat she’s donating to the State and against which she’s claiming several mill in tax allowances.

      1. Nigel

If Leo, or any Irish politician, had the kind of rock-solid curled-up-like-a-hedgehog base of support Trump has, I’d be terrified.

        1. Bald Archie

Trump – an elected official who keeps his campaign promises.

          What a bustard.

Veruca – a man who snuck into the Taoiseach’s office by the back door.

          Such a hero.

          1. SOQ

I actually agreed with Trump a few days ago which was an unusual experience.

He was asked about the British royal baby and he snapped “who cares”- Now our reasons for holding the same sentiment are different of course. I don’t like British monarchy and he, just doesn’t like black people.

          2. Nigel

Don’t make me defend feckin’ Leo . He was made Taoiseach in the same way every other Taoiseach was made Taoiseach. Meanwhile, Trump’s promises were pure bottomholery, so his efforts to keep them are also pure backsideholery. Luckily he hasn’t managed to completely ban all Muslims from the US yet but his policy of family seperation at the southern border is popular enough with his utter rearhole of a base.

          3. Bald Archie

Wall is getting built. Trump just diverted another 1.5 billion to it’s construction (taken from Afghan war funding).

Family separation policy precedes Trump. Photos of people in “cages” were from Obama era.

“Trump hates black people” is just another lie spun by idiots.

          4. Nigel

I predict a lot more money will be spent on it before it never gets built.
Family seperation is a Trump policy that his base adores and which he can’t expand fast enough for their liking.

          5. jusayinlike

Mass incarceration and family separation were Joe Biden’s policies Nigel, he wrote the crime bill for Bill Clinton.

          6. Nigel

I’m sorry I know Biden’s the new antichrist until and unless he’s passed by a new Dem frontrunner (at which point they will be the new antichrist) but are you saying Trump does not have, and has not massively expanded, the policy of seperating families at the southern US border, with the vocal support of his base?

          7. bisted

…crooked Hillary wasn’t even president and she managed to kill hundreds of thousands…how many new wars has Trump started?

          8. Nigel

That’s certainly an interesting angle on Trump’s policy of family separation. Well done. Otherwise, from your mouth to God”s ears

        2. SOQ

Nobody says crooked Trump because that was and is a given.

Why is Israel even allowed in the Eurovision in the first place?

Who is picking up the bill for mistakes made by foreign (US and Australian in this case) laboratories in the analysis of cervical smears for indicators of cancer?

    Irish Times today reports
“The negligence case involving Ruth Morrissey, who is terminally ill with cervical cancer, could lead to legal costs of up to €4 million, almost twice the €2.1 million award made to her and her husband Paul last week.”

So, overall costs of €6m so far which are set to increase with an appeal. Who picks up these costs? Someone on here suggested the State (HSE) was only picking up a small element (€10k) of the €2.1m award. I haven’t seen any supporting evidence for this, but even if true, who’s picking up the legal costs? Why should the Irish taxpayer be out of pocket for mistakes made by foreign companies which presumably have insurance up to the gills.

    1. Cian

      Your comprehension is terrible.

You said that the appeal (which hasn’t happened yet) could lead to legal costs of up to 4m.
So the 4m hasn’t happened yet.

Unhappy bunnykins in FG in Ireland South as one MEP hopeful is told by party bosses he can’t attend a hustings event run by the Irish Examiner in Cork. And why not? The Examiner reports

“As director of elections for Ireland South, Mr Flanagan issued instructions in April about how the party was dividing up the sprawling 12-county constituency in order to maximise the vote. Ms Clune was to be given Cork city and county and Waterford, and was to share South Tipperary with Mr Kelly. Mr Kelly was given Kerry, Limerick, Clare, and Tipperary North to himself, in addition to the areas shared with Ms Clune. As the Leinster candidate, Mr Doyle was given first right to canvass in Carlow, Kilkenny, Laois, Offaly, Wexford, and Wicklow.”

Elsewhere the excluded candidate’s election agent says “We are not happy about this, not happy at all… This is clearly about protecting the two incumbents and it is not the first issue we have had. There have been problems with posters going up in Kilkenny. This is unacceptable”

It’s almost as entertaining as the infighting between FF’s Kelleher and Byrne!

  8. Gabby

The Irish Times has a front page banner headline about a slump in esteem for Varadkar in an opinion poll. It contrasts with yesterday’s banner headline about FG & FF Euro candidates topping another opinion poll.
I recommend that we pass an electoral law similar to France i.e. no opinion polls should be published in the media if taken three days after elections are called . Gullible voters and ‘undecideds’ are following opinion poll statistics instead of thinking about issues.

    1. Nigel

Banning posters, banning opinion polls and, non sequiter though it seems, a call for compulsory IDs. These things are far from perfect, but it’s like you WANT reduced engagement, awarenesss and participation in the political process – and these things are about the process, which is pretty important, rather than the political issues, which are also important – the two things go together like a horse and carriage etc.

  9. Nigel

‘Pickpockets target Mass’ – church collections are getting pretty sneaky. Remember after exchanging the sign of peace always check your pockets.

One of those weeks where question marks are raised on persons in authority involved in paedophilia. ….a munster garda convicted of raping a 10 year old girl, a Tulsa worker in Cork with vile images of babies and live stream rape of a 5 year old……spend time with your innocent children – greatest safeguard against these sick individuals. You will KNOW something is troubling your child if giggles, fun , laughter stop and replaced with bed wetting & nightmares. “Secrets” is a prize word to paedophiles…..you can gently talk to your child on “secrets” are a no go area aside from trusted family.

The Irish Sun. Come on BS, this is comment by proxy. Please don’t feature any front page from any newspaper using Ana Kriegel headlines to sell more, while the trial continues.
